The eyes is painful but its acceptable to go aaaaarghhh me eyes lar. Ive been cooking for people that I dont really know and chopped a chilli then went for a piss. Minutes later in a kitchen full of people that I hardly knew the burning sensation started.

It was a very arkward moment in my life.

I make chilli , garlic oil.

Pour some oil into a bottle then lash in some garlic and chilli. Very nice.

Just reminded of Nick Nairn years ago on tv, heated some chilli oil instead of olive oil....had to run out of kitchen cos the smell was so bad! ;D Tried looking for it on youtube without any success

Mmmm, Chillies. Grow them in our garden in the Philippines, but I've never tried in the UK.

Good for making Bicol Express:

400 grams of long chillies (espada), cut in half and de-seeded (taking out the seeds reduces most of the the heat, preserving the chilli flavour)
500 grams of pork cut into small strips.
1 clove of garlic (small sliced)
1 large onion (sliced)
1 1/2 Litres of coconut milk (counters the heat of the Chilli)
3 teaspoons of Bagoong (fermented shrimp paste)

fry then add the coconut milk and chillies and simmer until chillies are soft.

Eat with rice.

Was in B&Q today and picked up 2 packs of chilli seeds, a propigating tray and a misting bottle, reckon if I sow them tomorrow should have a decent crop by the end of summer.

When I transfer them to pots will they survive on a windowsill?  I haven't got a garden so planting them in soil is a no go for me.

Pot on a window sill fine. Watch out for especially hot days and make sure it is 'well' watered. When you say no garden, are you in an apartment? Ever considered a plot at an allotment? Great fun.

I dont use them up quickly so froze them; but curries since haven't been that hot.

Anyone lnow if freezing them "nullifies" the heat?

There is a variety here in my country but is not spicy, called Ají dulce... superb! and they grow up fairly quick...

try to use the seeds when you make your curries... the heat is there!

water them from the bottom by standing in water - sometimes they can take a while - they'll grow
