Half time: Liverpool 1-0 Brentford
« on: January 16, 2022, 02:50:50 pm »
Good in patches, incredibly sloppy in others. It's good to see our set pieces looking more dangerous today although Brentford's defending has certainly helped us in that regard.

Getting ourselves the goal will hopefully settle us down a bit and allow us to play with more confidence.

The late offside flags are doing my head in.
I've just wiped the sticky residue from my bellend onto the television screen. Taste it Leo. You deserve it.
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

These games are all about grinding out wins whilst AfCon is on, doesn't matter how we win, just that we do
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Still far too slow for our liking and we have very minimal pace upfront which is affecting us massively. It’s good to go in at half time with a lead but it’s been an absolute slog thus far

My stream had been sound all game and then froze just as we won the corner which led to the goal, I refreshed and we had scored, maybe I should just stop watching altogether and we will go on and win this comfortably eh.

It was looking like one of those days again, lets hope we just keep this pressure up and wear them down to concede another goal. Need to stay switched on at the back and not gift them a chance back into this.

Would quite like to see Gordon given a go second half as a lot of it comes down to pace up there for me, like we're running in treacle at times.

Played like a side that haven't won in a while, Brentford did too though. You'd hope we kick on from here.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

A corner! Missing our key attackers and struggling to create a scrappy set piece is a key way to break the deadlock. Hence how annoying it was to fail to beat the first man the other night. That's more like it.

I thought we were decent for half an hour without ever looking like creating anything. We've barely got a shot away. Then we got frustrated and gifted them a bunch of chances with sloppy play (as we did at their place).

These are good at waiting for us to make a mistake and pouncing.

We were well on top and we got that really important goal right before half time. Hopefully it'll demoralize them and we can add one or two more. The more time that elapsed with us huffing and puffing the more if looked to be heading towards a Brentford smash and grab but hopefully that's off the cards now.

They are a championship side in my opinion, they will only get something if we give it which we've looked like doing a few times. Glad the goal came because we weren't really creating any big chances. Set piece always looked the most likely, they aren't defending them well. We are always a tough watch when we don't play with urgency, how I'd love 11 Joel Matips in that regard.

Excellent performance apart from a mad 5 minutes from 36 to 41. Would be 4-0 up with Mo and Sadio on the park. Set pieces have been excellent which is so important against packed defences. Henderson has been world class in that half. Great passing short and long.

Shows you how reliant we are on Salah and Mane now, even just for Sadio's movement. They make all around them better by stretching teams.

I mean he put one straight onto Firmino’s head in the middle of the goal but ok.

We've dealt with Toney much better than the previous match, but they still have a little bit of a threat coming forward.  Robertson's crossing has been pretty ropey, but Trent's delivery has been excellent all game.

The lack of penetration in the front three is a real concern, just don't see a goal coming from Firmino or Ox.
Sit down, shock is better taken with bent knees.
