Bench is a huge statement of intent. We’re going for the treble (quintuple?) lads!
Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

How come Hoever’s not getting a game? Hasn’t had a run out in the first team this season has he? Good to see Matip and Lovren back, and Keita on the bench

You've answered your own question.  We have two first team CBs returning from injury and both badly in need of minutes to get up to speed.  If Hoever features he will probably replace one of them at some point in the game, or fill in at RB.

Controversial selection, but I trust Klopp.

Why controversial?

Great to see Origi get a game would like to see him given more time generally.

He's been unfortunate to fall behind Williams at right back and Klopp doesn't deem him ready for centre back (recalling and then starting Phillips against Everton).

The original version has an alternate CB who normally played in midfield, for another team.

He turned 18 last week ;D
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

think klopp rewards those that performs in training and on the pitch. hence neco getting the nod. Hoever was out of the team for a while representing the dutch as well.

chirivella might be doing something right since he have been chosen to be in the squad.

Nearly a full 11 not even in the 18: Alisson, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Milner, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Lallana & Mane.

Shows we DO have good strength in depth now.

Prediction: 0-4.

He turned 18 last week ;D

Point remains. Klopp doesn't think he's ready yet (Phillips starting the derby) and Williams is ahead of him currently at right back.

Did well at Wolves last season in the cup and I thought he did well at MK and Villa. Having to go and play in a youth tournament has cost him a bit because Williams made a name for himself against Arsenal in his place.

Equally comfortable is perhaps overstating it, he’s a right back that can play centre back and may end up there long term. For now though he’s much more experienced at right back.

In fact, as I read that back, I see I've mentioned ten outfield players. Although that wasn't my intention, let's go with that for my predicted line-up and see how many I get right:

Adrian

Williams     Lovren    Matip     Larouci

Fabinho

Chiravella     Jones

Elliott     Origi     Minamino

 ;)

No chance I'll correctly predict the next FA Cup line-up if we get through though!

Controversial selection, but I trust Klopp.

Only if you don't pay attention to this team.  That lineup is pretty much exactly what most of us would have picked for this game based on the opposition and knowing how Klopp chooses his team.  Personally, the only one I wasn't sure of was Left Back and Klopp has gone with Lorucci.

If Keita had been on the bench this weekend then he would have been starting this game, the same goes for Lallana/Milner.   With weakened opposition Klopp will treat the FA Cup for those first teamers coming back from injury, his second best group of first teamers and the best young players we have.  The only way he plays the regular first team in this competition is if it doesn't affect our League/Champions League aspirations and the opponent is strong enough to warrant it.
Raúl barely had a kick. The nearest he got to greatness was when he shook Gerrard by the hand.   Times - Mar 10,2009.

Hoever  is a right back

Looks more like a CB playing at RB. Like Gomez he isn't the biggest so might be in his 20s before he moves inside. He isn't good enough in the opposition half to forge out a career at RB with us.

Love how this is a stronger team/bench than we had against the bitter blue noses.  Klopp obviously sees Shrewsbury, who are near the bottom of league 1, as a bigger threat than the blue noses first team  ;D

Nice interview from Pedro there and interesting him saying how he felt everything was too quick for him when he was with the 1sts a couple of years ago but now he feels more comfortable with it.

Like the look of the team and great to see the young lads involved again.

Goals for Harvey, Curtis and Taki would be nice but isnt really important so long as we're in the draw tomorrow without a replay.
