Legend for me. What a season 2001 was. Most memorable season I have experienced as Liverpool supporter who has never seen us win the league bar 2005.

Happy Birthday boss
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

What a season mate. We also ended up with the Super Cup beating Bayern Munich and the Charity Shield.

That's why added the 5 trophy emojis.  ;D

Glad he's still around given the health issues he's had!

Happy retirement and happy birthday to Ged :scarf

Sadly the 2002-03 season that could've been a massive one for us fell into a ditch and we never recovered until he went but that can't take away the amazing cup runs and the part he did play in us getting 80 points in 2001-02.

Incredible season. From February onwards felt like every game had something riding on it. To stay unbeaten in the cups (Roma at home aside) and still do what we needed to in the League was amazing and testament to both the size and management of the squad.

Happy Birthday Gerard.

He and his wife where at a game the other week. Maybe the Palace game? I thought 'damn, Ged looks well!' when they showed him on the tv. As did Mrs H as well. Very nice to see both of them at Anfield again.

And the very best of birthdays to a very fine football man  8)

Happy Birthday Ged.

Next year the anniversary of one if the most fun seasons I've had as a Liverpool fan...and crucial one for our recent history in many ways.

Think a positive retrospective of Houlliers time at and importance to Liverpool will be appropriate nearer the time.

Houllier's reign as manager was towards the beginning of online football chat, forums, etc. The explosion of opinion-giving had yet to take hold so he was spared that swill of crap in the main.

His record of trophy winning was exceptional at a time when the club's identity and self-confidence was at a pretty low-ebb. His legacy should never be underestimated. I think the swathes of Twitter trolls would have been poison had they been a thing in that last 18 months when the wheels flew off in rather spectacular fashion. Heck, Alisson just has to let in a penalty and he's receiving abuse from absolute weapons.

Happy Birthday boss... I met him once in Paris when he was doing punditry work on the French cup final. He was so obliging when I asked to have a picture taken with him. I told him thank you for everything you did for Liverpool Football Club and was genuinely humble and probably a bit embarrassed but was happy to pose for a photo..... For all the newbies he was responsible for bringing the club back from the brink of mediocrity in the late 90’s. Merci.
