78' - Mignolet controls the ball after a couple of freekicks from Palace. Why is it that every time the other team has a play like this we, fans, get edgy?

84' - Salah recovers the ball and passes it to Mane who shots but is stopped. Firmino gets the ball and tries to take advantadge of their keeper being off the area but it took him too long and the keepers saves it again.

88 Mane to Firmino to Solanke who shoots but is stopped. Nice move from our attackers. We seem edgy and hoofing a bit of the ball in the back.

Salah shoots at the top left corner and is miraculously saved, rebound goes to mane who shoots it softly and is savd again. We are close to the second, desperate for it!

Phewwww, might only be 2 games in but that was a big, big win and a thoroughly deserved one. 1-0 flattered them bigtime. Would have put a fuckload of pressure on the Arsenal game which we dont really need with all the injury, transfer, Coutinho shit. Nice to beat them horrible c*nts. Gomez and Robbo were good! Mane is the best player in the country. Stuff happens when Solanke is about!

We need more players. Or at least Phil back.

But we won! That's all that matters.

3 points with a makeshift side, I'll take that. It wasn't thrilling at times, but it got the job done. We desperately miss Coutinho though. I can't wait until September 1st for it to be finally resolved. If we are to sell, we absolutely need to buy someone to soften the blow of his absence. It'd be better than nothing, which is how we're operating now. Our midfield is severely lacking in creativity.

How much better than Moreno is Robertson though? It's like night and day. I think we've found our starting LB for the season.

Absolutely delighted with that result. We rested some players and weren't anywhere near our best but we persevered, got the goal and, most amazingly, kept a clean sheet. Was very impressed with how we shut the game down after the goal as well. Very important win and a few players got a rest ahead of Hoffenheim.

Once we get that ruthless streak back we will take far more of our chances. Anyway 3 points and a clean sheet at Anfield away we go.
