1st game of the season, thrashing Wham 4-0, the Sturridge dance and........ only 10 bloody pages?  :no ;D

Not a bad word to say about any one of the lads today, all look pretty sharp to say it's the 1st game of the season and hopefully will only get better. Mane was unplayable as was Milner and Keita looks every bit as good as the hype who will only get better as the season goes on. Brucie bonus seeing the Sturridge dance and well I don't even have to mention Salah, standard day at the office for him. Great stuff all round

Love the way Keita feathers it with the outside of his boot to allow Robertson to step onto it at pace without taking a touch, close enough to goal that he has a much larger room for error with his delivery.

Impressive figures for Milner.

🍾Man of the Match, @LFC ‘s James Milner
Most in match in all of these categories
122 touches
Completed 95/102 passes
3 chances created
7 crosses
12.55km distance covered

Reading those stats, I think that young man has a bright future once he matures.

Good to see 3 British defenders in our starting line up, and at 19, 21 and 24, the future's bright.

I really hope Sturridge and Shaqiri embrace their roles off the bench this season. Beyond the importance of rotation to avoid injury and fatigue, having players of that quality and fully motivated to run at tired defenders at the end of games will be invaluable to any league ambitions we have this season.

At the start of the season they will have a role from the bench but as the season wears on especially in the winter and run in I think you'll see a lot of rotation.

Goals, clean sheet, and didn’t even have to play too hard against them. Can’t really ask for much more than that!

The whole team, absolutely fantastic, no complaints and seems like our form is picking up from where we left off last season! Going to be one hell of a season this!

Sturridge maybe but not Shaqiri. He should have the attitude of wanting to be first choice.

I was so enraptured by the run and pass from Keita that I didn't fully appreciate the passes by TAA and Robertson on either side...  ;D

West Ham looked knackered after an hour.

Think a lot of teams will be this season. It looked like we had 12 players out there, and having Keita feels like cheating  :D

I think we'll get a lot of games where we win by four, five or six goals and the other team don't even score once.

Gives us more time to get Alisson, Keita and Fabinho integrated into the team and as deFacto says, those short on fitness have longer.

A brilliant controlled storming first day performance against a side who I expect to do very well this season.
It's not so much that every player played really well, more that they backed each other up, time after time, up until the final whistle.

Superb performances all over the pitch, everywhere, so I'll start by giving Allisson, Keita, Shaquiri their accolades for superb Anfield debuts.

Mane was colossal. Salah fought all afternoon. Gomez showed he might be what we hope he will be. Robertson & Trent just carried on from last season, they already play like veterans.

And aptly on to the veterans, Milner showed again that however much is paid for the new thing, he still does thejob and more. I think we should have the Captain's Headband this season. What a player he is!!

And after all that, we subbed off our entire attacking trident, and what happened? Sturridge!!!

What a joyful afternoon, and I think it will be the first of many great afternoons and evenings this season.

Well in Redmen!!!! Heroes everyone!!!

At one stage we pressed them back until our offside trap was at the halfway line :)

and at about 72 - 73 minutes. That attempted pass by Alisson to Salah to attempt to catch west ham on the break, thats what we paid 65 million pounds for

Oh how I have missed seeing the Sturridge dance again. Please football gods keep him fit. Love how Shaqiri is the first up to him to give him a hug for his goal. Someone put the PL table up it looks nice with us on top. I know its only one game but what a start to the season. Milly with his Rugby headband look as hard as nails running all over the place like a man possessed. What a engine the lad has.

amazing start from the reds. the hammers looked quite organised but our turn of speed and constant pressure meant they couldn't flow at all. touch of fortune for our 3rd but we would have nabbed another eventually.

the bench looks solid to, if we stay relatively injury free its going to be a season to remember I reckon.
- all in my opinion of course -

Get in! 4 goals, a clean sheet and a swagger about the performance. Didn't think we'd win this one this easily; I'm almost conditioned to Liverpool making it as hard for itself as it possibly can.

Loved the way Alisson kicked it long under pressure, and instead of just hoofing it to clear his lines, he looked up and hit a pinpoint 50 yarder to Robertson out on the touchline to start another attack. He wasn't tested today, but some good early signs of his other attributes.

Can we not finish the league now n then start a new one next week? :D

Felt really relaxed watching that. We dominated them but it never felt like we ever got out of 2nd gear at all. When we turn the pressure up for harder tests and European games I think it will be very tasty to watch at Anfield this season.

TAA and Robertson are awesome fullbacks. Having that kind of quality will only help our attacking players get more chances and better quality chances more often. Mane was awesome again today. Salah looked a bit down I thought - but only coz he scored 1 goal, not more :D don't worry I'm sure more will come!

YNWA!

Top o the league! :D

Everyone played very well. Alisson had little to do but looked quite comfortable. Was very glad Salah got us under way after his tough summer. Milner still oozes class at 32 and in Keita I see the future

I think Man City will push us close this year but I  was a bit nervous today, first game back and all.

We bossed this one, my only disappointment was that Sadio was off when Danny scored, I just can't wait to see him behind Studge copying his dance  ;D ;D
I'm really looking forward to the future. People can say it's going to be grim if they want but i'm a Liverpool fan...and I don't fucking believe them.

What a performance. The most encouraging thing for me was the way we scored the first goal, it reminded me exactly of the kind of goals City scored over and over again last season and is to my mind exactly what we need to be doing to scythe through the double deckers we will inevitably be facing down the road.

The second most encouraging thing was the sheer control we had in midfield in the second half. 2-0 up at half time has, in recent years, not been a fully comfortable score line for Liverpool, but we made it look easy today.

Last thing - Naby Keita is boss!
