That seems pretty quick, thought it would be longer.

That will be the first hearing though.

The case will then be committed to Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing to enable a judge to start the case management process, probably the first step on a long, technically comples road.

They are heroes, every single one of them. They have fought year in, year out for this and our thoughts must be with them over the coming months and probably beyond. They have not wavered, they have not backed down. I tip my hat to them and they are some of the most amazing people on this Earth. I truly mean that.

Snared Rats

And so the day has finally come.
When justice may at last be done.
I had my doubts, hopes been low.
Dashed by many a liar in full flow.

6 people will have charges to face.
6 snared rats no longer to chase.
The CPS are looking at another 2.
Though a total of 8 is still too few.

Many have escaped court and trial.
The culprits we know despite denial.
Now the courts must see it through.
Guilty verdicts a must, well overdue.

It's difficult to find the right words to convey my emotions currently. Feeling so mixed up. So upset that Anne never got to see this day, but I am sure she is smiling up there. Those special families that carried the fight for so many years for this day, we all thank you so much. JFT96.

Just saw Phil Scraton on C4 news and agree that this is now reaching beyond Hillsborough, into some pretty fundamental truths about our system of law. Our thoughts however must be with the families and survivors, here's hoping that the justice system serves them better this time round.

I think back to the years when it looked like a lost cause, some tried to change the subject, others just wouldn't listen

The families just kept going, campaigning, reliving the horror and dedicating their lives for this day.

If only the world was full of these people. You inspire me and I hope you get the justice you deserve.

David Conn on the Guardian has just tweeted that 2 files regarding the false police allegations that Liverpool fans burned a polce horse with cigarettes, are still being considered by the CPS

It was the lead story last night on the BBC 10 o'clock news. That's no surprise. But there was a very shrewd summing up by the reporter of the effect that the Justice campaign has had on British history and the relationship between the state authorities and ordinary people. Quite rightly he linked what is happening now, with the consciousness around the Grenfell Tower disaster, to the achievements of the Justice campaign. Expectations about accountability have changed. Hearing the report you realised that the significance of that achievement will only GROW as the decades roll by.

Id certainly not want to comment on any of the details for the obvious reasons however I would suggest people reward those journalists and publications that have reported on this news and the process with clicks to their website and the articles.

Not only are some of them very good reads and a good source of info to many, but the more clicks and views they get the more likely others will read them and be made aware of this stuff and the more likely that more time is dedicated to researching for and writing more articles.
