can't believe they didn't learn some lessons after that ,they really didn't think about the consequences of fencing at all ,and I'm sure there were more incidents that should have set the alarm bells ringing but were just ignored

If anyone wonders why Leeds fans have often shown solidarity with and understanding of the Justice campaigns, their experiences in 1987 play no small part.

Being a remote fan of LFC, having been brought up in Essex, even I found that I knew nothing of the Hillsborough disaster apart from the official story (which everyone now knows was obviously fabricated). I saw the events unfold on TV, but was force fed the lies from the media, and pretty much swallowed their lies whole. Shocking, I know, but then I've always been more of an armchair fan (going to the odd game here and there) and nobody I knew really discussed the issue.

It wasn't really until I read the Hillsborough forum here a few years ago that I learned the truth, by reading many of the documents on here.
So I can understand supporters of other teams not knowing about the Truth, if some of our own fans like me, didn't really understand.

This weeks revelations have shocked me to the core as I couldn't understand how people who are supposed to protect us could go out of their way to fabricate the story in order to exonerate themselves. It's shocked me that so many could have survived and didn't. It has shocked me that so many people in authority cared so little about football fans that they could let this happen.

I'll never be able to fully understand how the supporters at the game and many who have been affected in Liverpool feel, but I have thought a lot about everyone this week. It really has stunned me.

A 1987 document presented to the Taylor Inquiry within the Association of Chief Police Officers' submission noted that delayed kick-offs were 'another situation where supporters were seen to be forcing the police into taking action against their better judgement'.[115] The document stated that it had 'become increasingly apparent that large numbers of spectators are arriving extremely late at the ground, this may be related to the restricted access to alcohol in grounds and the prohibition on taking alcohol into grounds'. Consequently, to avoid disorder, 'police ground commanders have occasionally requested that the kick-off be delayed' but 'this pressure should not be acceded to in future, the police should not be dictated to by supporters'.

The FA are culpable in this, yet seem to be getting away with it.

That was unfair from an allocation and chance of getting a ticket point of view but it is  a red herring as far as the causes of the disaster are concerned. Nottm Forest would have sold out the 10,100 tickets on the Leppings Lane terrace. Nottm Forest fans would have turned between 1pm and 240pm just as our fans did. Nottm Forest fans would have been caught in a crush outside due to the inadequate turnstiles, just as we did. Then given the same police decisions the Forest fans would have ended up crushed in pens 3 and 4 just as we did.

The FA are culpable of using a ground without a safety certificate, they are culpable of using a ground with loads of green guide breaches for one of their key fixtures, they are culpable of obtaining o use hat ground despite receiving numerous complaints that the Leppings Lane end was unsafe.

Hi all,

As you can probably gather from my name I'm a City season ticket holder from Manchester, and just wanted to post a few thoughts about the events of this week. Firstly, although I'm a manc first and foremost I go to Liverpool Uni, and I love the place and the people. I was in Liverpool on Wednesday and passed by St George's Hall when everything was being set up for the vigil (sadly I had a train to catch or I would have stayed). I was born just under three years after the tragedy but I spent a few minutes at the memorial when we played you at Anfield a few weeks back which hit me hard; looking at the names of kids as young as 10 who went to see their heroes play and never came home. I could never imagine that.

Anyway, I just wanted to say how happy I am for the families of the 96 that the truth has finally been outed, and the lies of Mackenzie and the Scum have been put to bed once and for all. It's taken far, far too long but I hope this sets the wheels in motion for real justice for the 96, and their families. The past week has shown that a sense of camaraderie still exists (for the most part) within the football community. We're not so different; we all love going and watching our teams play, the only variable is the team. I couldn't go to Stoke (as I've spent up on going to Madrid!) but I've heard about gestures of solidarity from both City and Stoke fans from friends who did go, which is testament to this.

I did once have an idea for a campaign video of sorts, to try and get  people to understand, to try and put faces on it and have people see it from a different angle and why it effects them as well.

Have 96 fans from other clubs, the same age as each of the 96. Each one appearing in their teams shirt, show them side by side, with a photo of one of the 96 who was the same age as them. Have a caption saying name, age and team and just have each one say "it could of been me" then at the end show them all in a group and have them say in unison "it could of been us, it could been you"

Thankfully I think most have woken up now and realise that.

You would have hoped that would have really hit home, considering there are 92 professional clubs in this country.

I haven't really been posting this week, out of not really knowing what to say, as i have no direct personal link to the tragedy as dad was too busy looking after a two year old me that weekend. I've just been reading and reading and reading.

However, i must state that over the past few days, the amount of my friends or colleagues from other clubs who have directly told me about their sorrow, and shock about the whole fucking mess has really warmed me (especially the City, Spurs, Cardiff and to be fair United fans i know).  Thankfully my Bluenose friends never needed educating. So a big thanks to them. The tide of wider public opinion really has turned over night.

And some tasteless left over wind up merchants from the weekend have instantly been called out, they'll be washed out sooner rather than later, i have faith in that. At last, football is one. I hear from my Evertonian brother that there will be a gesture involving the mascots tonight at Goodison. I know there have been some unsavory instances over the last 2 decades regarding Hillsborough and Heysel between both sets of fans, but i can't speak highly enough of the Blues i know of and their attitude and support for the campaign for truth.
