Sterling - Stick Or Twist
« on: March 30, 2015, 09:20:25 am »
Hi all,

Rumored today that Sterling and his agent have told LFC he would turn down £180k per week.

so the obvious question is this: Is young Raheem worth paying £200k per week to keep?

Would you keep him or sell him for the right offer?

Would you play the same tactic as we did with Suarez?

Bollocks he has, media stirring shit. Rodgers has even said they won't be discussing the contract until the season is over, but now apparently we have offered 180k? Yeah right!

Obviously something has gone on in the back ground and there seems to be too many stories to not believe he is after a shit load more money than what he currently deserves...

It wouldn't blow me away if we ended up looking to sell him. Every player has to desire LFC, if the young boy is led astray by his agents and wants to risk his development elsewhere, then we'll go out and buy someone else.

Not really. It's all part of contract negotiations. It happens all the time.

They'll be loads of rumours going about but one thing is clear that Rodgers has said talks are on hold until the end of the season.

So no point believing the Daily Fail or any other paper.

If thats the case then minimum £50m and 20% sell-on clause.

That's the thing though, I've zero confidence that we'd go after the right player, let alone be able to attract them. We've got a brilliant young star in Raheem, we just have to hope that he sees sense, recognizes everything that Brendan and the club have done for him and signs a new deal.

indeed, and right now he isn't good enough for it to be a massive loss imo. Although its the potential he has that could be a massive loss. However potential can go either way, so asking for 150k-200k for future potential is a bit too cheeky.

I think he has been average this season, last season from January onwards he was amazing, and really frightening. He has got a lot of the basics wrong this season. However he is still developing and Liverpool surely is the best place for him to develop right now. He would be an idiot to leave.

Preposterous rumor.

More money than Suarez was ever on while he was with us, or what a peak Stevie or a peak Torres ever got?

With the figures thrown around, anything over 100 k would be setting a dangerous precedent, at a maximum, 125k should be our cut off point I reckon. He can demand a salary of what Hazard is on when he starts playing like him.
What belongs to you, but is used by others?

I do think his head has been turned and I suspect City are the club that's been in his ear.  We just have to convince the lad he's better off here, at a club that will nurture his talent.

Talk of him turning down £180k seems like a complete fabrication though.

If we give him what he wants, what happens when it's time for Jordon Ibe to negotiate a new contract in two years time? It's preposterous and we can't afford to pay youngsters that amount, it's asking for trouble.
