The only way this move would be anyway near good for Utd would be if he was signed on a pay to play contract and that he accepts being 3rd or 4th choice.
Because Owen nowadays is a very poor player, who hasnt performed to his potential since 2003.

Are you serious?

Even the most anti-Owen fans out there could see his partnership with Heskey was brilliant for both of them. Ask Owen, and he'll tell you he's never played with anyone better.

Owen ruined Heskey's career.

Well, Houllier did but to bring the best out of Owen.

Honestly think in hindsight that Fowler and Heskey was a better partnership in the long term.

He's having a medical at Man Utd tomorrow apparently. Quite happy they have missed out on Benzema, Tevez, lost Ronaldo and are going for someone like Owen.

It would be a sad day if he joined United, that really would erase every last positive memory of him in a Liverpool shirt.

As for whether he would be a good signing for them, God knows. They create a lot of chances and if he is fit he will put chances away. Ferguson has always admired him, he's said it for years. But he does look finished at the top level.

He wouldn't score loads of goals for us. He wouldn't suit our style of play under Rafa at all. Very disappointed if he's going there, but rather there than back here.

worries me that- they usually have it spot on.

As someone said before if you give MO a chance he will take it- United will make chances. Just hope it doesn't go through

They have no creativity whatsoever now that Ronaldo has gone. They need to make a big signing or two to replace him - They struggled for goals at times with him last season and would likely have slumped home in fifth or sixth place were it not for him bailing them out every other week.

we were favourites to land henry 2 summers ago by many bookies

ronaldo had fuck all assists in his last 2 years mate and didnt create all that many more chances (dirk kuyt created more chances than him ffs)

It's not about direct assists - It's about what he creates because of what he does to the other teams. He creates openings merely by being on the field - partly through reputation alone and the consequent psychological effect on other teams, it must be said. Also, he would run at defenders, cause them to fuck up and end up scared and in disarray.

He is a twat of the highest order if he goes there. For someone who "wanted to come back" after his time at Real Madrid, this is just rubbing it in the face of the fans who applauded him while he warmed up on the touchline at Anfield in the Newcastle game last season.

true. another reason why i'm quite optimistic for the upcoming season is that rafa finally showed the rest how to beat the mancs- one can argue that the teams after our drubbing of them were more attacking but it was still quite incomplete so far as they were afraid of being caught by flowerboy and shrek going counter on the break. couple that with flowerboy gone, teams would be more confident and they can exploit the mancs better.

His reputation killed other teams even when he wasn't performing. They struggled without him at times for that reason above any other.
