Old Trafford is two miles south-west of Manchester city centre. Parking is available at several paying car parks around the ground but it's too far to walk from any of the main line stations.

By Train
The main line station (Picadilly) or Oxford Road is too far to walk, but you can get the Metrolink to Old Trafford and Trafford Bar stations.

By Car
Follow M56 until its end and then take the M60 (W&N) as for Trafford Centre. At Junction 7 leave M60 and take the A56 towards Stretford. Stay on the A56 for 2.1 miles then you will come to see Sir Matt Busby Way on your left. The ground is half a mile down this road on your left, although on matchdays this road may be closed to traffic.

Thoughts:
If you're lucky enough to get a ticket for this game then I'd just be on my toes a little bit. Everyone knows that Old Trafford is a good ground, and I think most Reds will realise that if you go then you just have to keep an eye out ... obviously less now than in years gone by.

Away fans are located in one corner of the ground, taking up sections of the South and East stands, with a standard allocation of 3000. You will be searched going into the ground as par for the course. Don't always expect to be locked in at the end and be prepared to run the gauntlet from the slavering mob outside as Manchester's finest look on with disinterest.

Getting away from the ground can be a complete nightmare. The Old Trafford Tram stop near the ground is a good 10 minute walk from Old Trafford and gets very busy.

Pub guide and extras
Most of the pubs around the ground, will be home fans only, especially when we are in town. The Bridge at Sale two stops from Old Trafford on the Metro (about eight minutes journey time) is apparently away friendly if you're feeling up for a bevvy. Otherwise drink in the city centre, and obviously avoid wearing colours. Or speaking. Manchester pub and bar guide:

Aidan_B:
Sounds obvious but the best place to drink before the game is in the town centre, trying the pubs around St. Peters square are a decent bet for the tram which is entirely free on match days (no space for conductors)

--- Quote from: Litherland_Leon on October  1, 2006, 10:19:39 pm ---just been watching match of the day and it panned on to the away section, part of it was underneath the upper tier of the east stand. was it like that last season? surely the police wouldn't risk putting us in a perfect target position like that would they?

--- End quote ---

Of course they do, some serious problems could occur there

marc.:
Catch a tram from oxford to the ground but coming back on it after the match get there asap to avoid the stupid queues as thousands of people squeeze through 2 little turnstyles.

KF:
its a great away but as previously mentioned be on your toes
