It’s FA cup 1/4 finals that weekend. City have got Sheff Wed in the 5th round.  There’s no way that City v Chelsea game will be played that day.

I think there's a free mid-week seven days after the FA Cup 5th round. I wonder if City might try to move the game up and play Chelsea on the 11th March.

another opportunity missed by Keita. Chamberlain deserves to start these games though. we were better when he was on the pitch

He's started numerous other matches in previous games, so it's not like he's been on the bench.

They both offer something different.

On another note, as I couldn't watch tonight I had text commentary on my Sly Sports phone app. When the score was 1-2 they said "are Liverpool about to blow it again."  :duh

I was the same.... they so want to put pressure on us ... one team winning it at a canter just isn't entertaining enough for them  dunno whether it being us makes it even harder for them. But that really made me laugh when they posed that... with half an hour to go .... against West Ham ... at home ..

A top performance form the lad..

I thought Bobby was awful, can't remember the last time he played so badly.

Don't think he played badly, but I can't remember a game he's had with such little influence and touches? Maybe I'm wrong and there has been games but tonight the game didn't seem to go through him as much as it usually does.

Soon as the League is done and dusted, honestly I would rather see Curtis Jones get game time over Keita and Lallana now for the rest of the season.

That’s a Champions League week for half the teams in the last 16. We play our 2nd leg that night.

Aren’t UEFA a bit funny about teams/Associations scheduling matches that could distract from their games?  I know City played last week but I thought that was a special case due to the winter break and postponement due to the weather.

I doubt we’d want the distraction either.

It was really a strange game, they had 3 chances and scored 2 goals. For example for me Southampton played better at Anfield and they lost 4-0...football is sometimes a funny game 😂.

At 1-2 I was becoming nervous but we always find a way to win  8)

That's the point though. We found a way to win and we'll be fresher on the run-in when we're playing for Cups and records.

That was a Liverpool 1970s performance. 1-2 down with 20 minutes to go? Attacking the Kop? No need to worry. We'll get there. We even had the crowd sucking the ball over the line for the second.

It's great to know that this Liverpool side can win in several different ways. Such power tonight, even if the finesse was a bit iffy.

UEFA let them play West Ham on a CL midweek because of their fixture pile-up, and that hasn't really relented so City can ask for the same reasons.

But I think UEFA might think a big game vs Chelsea might be too much of a distraction as opposed to a run of the mill game against West Ham. Plus UEFA aren't exactly their best buddies at the moment.

Presley. People want a perfect display of football, it's like it's impossible for them to factor in that an opposition of 11 decent players can be organised and raise their game as they face relegation. We're forcing ourselves to that title one way or another.

Really enjoyable game.  We were a shade below par, West Ham raised their game.  West Ham have 11 games to save themselves.  Play like they did tonight and we will be playing them at least twice next season.  But they won’t play like they did tonight consistently which is why they will be playing QPR next season.

Find it fascinating that as soon as the statistic that we've only conceded 1 goal from the last 120 odd corners comes to light, we concede from corners in back-to-back games against Atletico and West Ham. Was always going to be the way wasn't it?

I've certainly seen West Ham perform a lot worse, so it's a tad annoying that they've raised their game for this one, but we should be performing better. A lot of undercooked passes tonight allowed West Ham the opportunity to nick in and break, and indeed that's what happened when Fornals scored their second. Their equaliser came about due to Trent slicing a clearance that led to a sequence of corners. Just a lot of sloppy mistakes all over the pitch really made the game harder than it needed to be. Trent, Robbo, Keita, Fabinho and Gini all guilty of giving away possession tonight, which meant that the front 3 had to come deeper to win the ball back. They were in a position then where they were less effective. Did we miss Hendo? Maybe a little bit, but I would expect all of the midfielders to come back stronger and better from this on Saturday anyway. Could see Ox being given a go from the start against Watford, I felt like he found a bit more joy than Keita tonight in terms of the driving runs and the passes he was funneling into the front 3.

Typical that West Ham decided to turn up tonight, but were already beaten on Wednesday night before strolling onto the field. I still felt confident we'd turn it round at 2-1, felt like the wake up call we need. Great to keep all of our mad records going and most importantly bring the title closer.

Onto Watford now, expect another good performance from the opposition but we should have a little too much for them.

Mad cap mayhem of a game. West Ham could have conceded 6 and were the side of Allison's face away from maybe drawing. We were brilliant at times and jerky out-of-rhythm for most of the game. Up and down allover the pitch. Ugly blustery windy gnarly conditions against a West Ham tied that were really good. Big, physical, awkward and at times sharp and clever, where did that come from? All in front of a crowd that seemed to be asleep most of the time and yet roared the team to an equaliser and a winner before dozing off again.
I am taking it though. With 20 minutes left it was discombobulatingly disconcerting. 4 more wins (and beat Atletico please).

Nothing wrong with a bit of a reality check, getting the rhythm back in the process.

By the time Atletico slither into Anfield, I expect the team to be back on track in that regard.

West Ham had a go. Based on that performance they should be much higher up the table. We weren’t at our best but the pleasing thing was that we dug deep to get the win from a losing position. Another three points. Another step towards that title. What we are doing is incredible.

Was a good game for us to get our mojo back, last 30 mins we looked like that unrelenting machine that swarms teams.

Hopefully we are firing on all cylinders for the Atletico game, thanks to the way Moyes set up with his park the bus hit on the break tactics we had to grind that win out which helped gets us out of that post break sluggish melaise.

It's quite bizarre, isn't it. Ok, let's just pretend we lost tonight. It's not exactly a title collapse, is it? We'd still have been 19 points ahead. With that in mind, to even utter the words "blow it again" is utterly ridiculous and quite embarrassing on their part.

Regarding a team winning it at a canter, were the media like this when Abu Dhabi walked it two seasons ago? I honestly can't remember.

I think the media and certain commentary teams / pundits are really missing out on this. They could embrace what is happening and be part of it. They could show some honesty and integrity by giving this team the plaudits it thoroughly deserves and comment on what's before their eyes rather than making shite up. Instead, they just seem intent on being sour, inventing silly narratives and trying to create controversy rather than being part of something beautiful.

There is an epic story in all this. A fallen empire that has gone through decline, gut-wrenching tragedies, almost into administration, ousted appalling owners and rebuilt itself into the best side in the world with the trophies to prove it. Not only that, a 30 wait to be crowned English champions is about to come to an end. Not just by the odd point either, but by beating all comers in relentless, fearless fashion and breaking records in the process.

This is a magnificent story, and if that's not exciting enough for those weirdos then I feel sorry for them. We are witnessing history being written here. Beautiful history, and a lot of people who make a living out of this game could do with pulling their heads out of the sand and recognising it instead of acting like sour, petulant children simply because it's not their team doing it.

Well said.

Personally I'm finding it an increasing grind dealing with the grimacing commentary, shoddy refs, and game raising tw@ts who seem determined to make our lives difficult.  Without fail this collective shower would bend over for any team with the word "Manchester" in its name.  For that matter, for any team NOT named "Liverpool".

So, we do it the hard way, like we did in the 80s.  We'll get the grudging, restrained congratulations with barely concealed bitterness and contempt.  And we'll ignore it all and party like our lives depend on it, because Jurgen Fucking Klopp is about to become our most successful manager since The King himself and we're going to ram it down their throats till they choke on their own bile.
