FAO anyone who has not yet changed their flights
« on: September 2, 2003, 09:36:24 am »
Looks like Ryanair have got onto it.

The outward flight to Klagenfurt and the inbound from Trieste have now gone right up in price.

Spoke to UEFA again just now, and their press office have said that they home to confirm changes in the next hour or so. The only way that won't happen is if either national association object, which is very unlikely.

That's weird John 'cos those were the prices they were showing last night, then this morning it went back down, now it is up again.

We can get return flights to Venice for £67 for the two of us which means it is cheaper to buy these two and ditch the others than to change the original flights.   Times are better too, leaving plenty of time to drive to Venice from Ljubljana.

Now, do I go for it or not.....  ???

Just phoned Ryanair - they want £138 extra on top of the £58 I've already paid.
Thats £100 a flight it works out.
Told em to go fuck themselves.
Have to start looking elsewhere now, but probably won't be able to afford to go.

Stansted on the 06:35 (were planning an overnight at Stansted anyway) on the 23rd

Returning on the 24th at 22:15 (Venice Treviso not Marco Polo - no flights available)

Actually turned out to be £71.60 but still cheaper than a change to higher priced Trieste flight (this is for 2 people)

I'd try the outbound to Trieste on the Tues only €9.99 as a new flight and just chging the reurn from Klagenfurt for £15.

That will probably work out the cheapest way of doing it.

My change looks a bargain now @ £30!

They've put the flight prices up to £49 and added an extra £15 to change it. :upyours
Prices for 2 flights.
John's idea for £25 looks the best bet now.

Depends on the kick off time Tetti. The satdium only holds 12,000 and I have no idea if it has floodlights. If it does not it may well be an afternoon kick off as many of these East European trips turn out.

Lee you got any room in your car?  ;)

Haven't booked any cars yet as don't know final numbers.  Once it all settles down and if there are others who wish to travel from the same flights as us, then we can decide what size car (number of cars) to get.

Anyone considering Venice might want to check where Treviso airport is, I have a feeling it's not too close to Venice!

It's a little way to the North West of Venice, so worse option than Marco Polo, I reckon about 1.5 hours extra driving than the Trieste option, but flight times give us much much more time (no early rising on the Thursday for a start  ;D)

As for the Tuesday option to Trieste, it's not the outbound flight they have tanked the price up on but the return flight on the Thursday (Friday is the same and I reckon the weekend would be even more)

This is such a pain  >:(

RAC route planner suggests a 2hr 45 minute drive at an average speed of 60 mph on motorways.  It is nearly all motorway so should be able to cut down on this.

Not sure about other options (trains etc)

I am not sure how Ryanair pricing system works 'cos, as I said above, the price went from £19.99 to £39.99 then back to £19.99 and then £39.99 again.  Perhaps they automatically price based on interest from those getting quotes?  If that's the case, we are our own worse enemies all checking at the same time!

This must really amuse our American cousins as internal flight prices over there are horrendously expensive compared to European flights.

I still see £9.99 outwards and £39.99 return, plus taxes making it £71.29 in total.

Ryanair have only jacked it up for the 23rd.
The 24th is still £1.99.
Flight arrives Klagenfurt 12.50.
Anyone on this flight?
How long will it take to get to luvly jubbly?
Is it likely to be an earlier kick off?

trains are terrible from everywhere. Too many changes.

2 and 1/2 hours for 78 miles from Klagenfurt. Over 3 and 1/2 for a similar distance from Trieste.

Just changed my flight now - only £30.
Arrives Klagenfurt 24/10 @ 12.50
Train leaves 3.10 gets in to Jubbly at about 5.45.
Worst comes to worst - hire car is £51 for the 2 days.
Fucking hell.
Anyone on the same flight let me know - we can sort out maybe getting 4 into a car from the airport for £12.50 each.

I've altered to going out on day of game (24th) to Klagenfurt - coming back on 25th. Only had to pay the £15 each way as the flight going out on 24th is priced at £1.99.

Flight on 24th gets in at 12.50. Should be a 1 - 1.5 hr drive to Ljubljana. I've checked the UEFA website and the Ljubljana - Shelbourne qualifying match in the last round kicked off at 8pm local time in Ljubljana - so they must have lights and hopefully it'll be a similar k/o for us.

Just a bastard that I'm only getting 1 night in Ljubljana. Severely, severley pissed off. I feel a strongly worded letter to club and UEFA coming on - for all it'll be worth. Sick and tired of being treated like shite.

John mac - thanks for the info last night.
