We’re not bad at winning semis in the cricket.

But we have lost 3 World Cup Finals, 2 Champions Trophy Finals and a World T20 Final. :o

Big chance to win this final though. ;D

That's harsh. He was named umpire of the year in 2012 and 2018. It was a bad mistake but let's not malign his entire career.

I’m giving my honest opinion. I think he’s always been iffy, and the umpire awards were a mystery to me. He’s a lovely fella by all accounts, but I’ve never rated him good enough, so I’m not going to start now.

Got to say, I was kind of hoping it was Australia we would meet in the final - just for the redemption factor, if we won. It was a bit of an ambush in 2015. But well done to England in making the final and trouncing the sandpaper gang in doing so.

I suspect conditions will play a huge part on Sunday again.

Note James Boiling at the end. I got the official Ashes magazine that summer, the one with Chris Lewis in a sunhat sweeping the ball on the cover. One section was titled: "Spinners won't be winners", citing the historical truth that spinners don't tend to make a difference in Ashes series. One of the English spinners highlighted was Boiling, based on nothing. But for romantics, there was the English hope, the promising young legspinner Ian Salisbury. The Aussies had their own, this chap called Warne, who got taken apart by the Windies the previous year.

Note on Wasim and Waqar: they had pulled two matches from the fire earlier that year in South Africa. First one SA were 159/1 and then 180/4 chasing 209 and were bowled out for 198 (https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8542/scorecard/65951/south-africa-vs-pakistan-1st-match-total-international-series-1992-93). Second one SA were 151/3 chasing 172 and were bowled out for 162 (https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8542/scorecard/65954/south-africa-vs-pakistan-4th-match-total-international-series-1992-93). Yes, I know there were some dark arts involved but you had to be mighty talented to be able to do what they did.

Great final in store. Would prefer the Kiwis to win it but at least it's not going to be another Australian win this time.

Redemption against Australia isn't winning against them in a final. It's beating them big and beating them humiliatingly and rubbing it in. Beating them in a final won't amount to true redemption. True redemption is denying them the Ashes for 16 years. That will never happen, so we should take what we can get.

Is it on Channel 4 or are just Sky gonna make it available on youtube ?

Just had a news alert to say it’ll be shown on C4.

I’m driving to Ireland on Sunday, time to introduce the family to the joys of TMS. :D

Just seen that, interesting as C4 have the British GP live on Sunday as well.

Apparently, they will have the race on the main channel while the cricket will be relegated to More4. Better than nothing, I suppose.

The final will be on Sky Sports, Sky One and Channel 4 from 9am. Coverage will move to More4 when the F1 starts and then back to Channel 4 after the F1 finishes.

Bizarre that's being broadcast on the main channel and not the first WC final in 27 years for England.
