Emerton Anfield-Bound?
« on: February 24, 2002, 10:57:45 am »
I have it on good authority (! - whatever that means these days) that part of the Fowler deal was that Leeds backed out of the race for Emerton. (That was worth £2million, and why Houllier said we got £13mill not £11mill for him).

Anyways, looks like he's on his way....

The Australian playing for Feijenoord ?
He said on Dutch television he wanted to stay in Holland for at least another season, not that that is a guarantee nowadays. That part of us more or less paying for another club not making a bit is the weirdest thing I've ever seen in football. (since Paul Gascoigne that is) So what happens if Man U or Arsenal get to him ? That would mean £2 million down the drain. Weird story that.

Not sure what to believe. We've been linked with Emerton for so long now. Perhaps there is some truth in the rumour? Personally, I reckon we have enough players for RB/RM as it is.

Maybe Jerzy could be the key, with him an old team mate of Emerton's.

Hav'nt seen him play for Feyenoord(is that how you spell it) but he was pretty good in the WC quals against N.Z. Not that that is really a compliment or anything.

I don't rate him, He's good but we should be looking for players that are much better than him. He is no way anywhere near the quality of players like Pires or Kewell.

We paid Leeds £2 million to back out of a transfer?

Why the fuck would we ....if a player would rather go to Leeds than Anfield he would be the first, & they could fucken have the ambitionless twat!

Must have more money than I realised if we can afford to give other clubs £2 mill NOT to go for players. Completely bemuses me why anyone would believe this nonsense.
