Not true Al. They were kicked straight at him.

If they were straight at him they would have hit his feet.

Low down powerful shots either side of the keeper are really hard to save.

He's generally really good at analysing goalkeepers and also praises Ali heavily a lot of the time.

The thinking seems to be that he should have been on/near his line and therefore had more time to react.  As a non-goalkeeper though it seems a really tricky one as Ali is also trying to second guess a pass slipped through to Trezeguet(?).

For me he's almost been undone by how crap a finish it was.  Ali is already leaning to his right as he can see there's no way a shot can get through to his left.  He reasonably expects Watkins to put the ball in the inviting half of the goal Watkins can see so and not just boom it straight at him.

Ali reacting to things before they happen is one of the reasons he is one of the best in the world. I agree with what you are saying, he's anticipating the dink through and wants to cut that out and has also narrowed the angles to give himself a better chance of saving the shot. From his position, the vast majority of shots he will just have to stick his arm out/easy dive to get to, sadly it went in the worst place for him. 9 times out of 10 he makes what looks like an easy save.

We need a brilliant performance from him to have any chance of going through. Ball over the top with Kabak/Phillips/TAA with Vinicus lurking is scary so we need him to be able to sweep up.

I think Harrison is being very harsh on Ali there. Keepers have to make a decision and shift their weight to allow them to dive. It is either one or the other Henderson at the weekend was a perfect example he decided to go with his feet and then couldn't get there. If he had dived he would have had a much better chance of getting there.

Ali simply has to prioritise covering the pass and a shot to his right.

Top notch performance from the handsome bastard last night.

Would have been cruel if Leeds didn’t get a draw last night though.

By an absolute mile the best goalkeeper on this earth, doesn't get enough credit for how good he's been this season as our position is shit (and admittedly he had a dodgy game in a big moment v City). Shame so many of his team mates have let him down.

Reminds me of Reina in 2009/10 season, desperately trying to keep a team thats dying on its arse afloat.

Aside from the City game obviously.

Deserves plenty of love. He's an immense keeper who's just come through the toughest period of his life. There's only a handful of keepers in the world in the same class.

Brilliant again today. I had the feeling that he'd have saved the equalizing shot had it not been deflected. Hard to help the team with a clean sheet when the forwards should have scored 5 or 10...

Had a great game except for that bad error with the pass that went straight to Che Adams (luckily!).
If that error had led to a goal (which, considering how toothless we usually are in response in that situation this season, would have led to a draw or a loss), none of us would have been so generous in our praise for the rest of the great efforts, fantastic saves he pulled off.

Won us the game today. No disrespect to young Williams at the back but when he is playing, you will likely need a big performance from your keeper on 1 or 2 occasions. Quality

He was excellent tonight although he did misplace a pass that could easily have resulted in a goal.

He kept a clean sheet which is always a great thing to do.

I'm just made up that his head is still in a place where he can play. This year he's had to deal with the shock death of his father, not being able to return to Brazil to be with his family and can you imagine how he is feeling this week, knowing his Dad isn't around for the birth of his third child? I found it hard when my kids were born, the first 14 months after my Mum died, not having her there to meet the kids.

Saved our asses yesterday as several times he threw himself into the feet of strikers where he could easily have gotten injured and never hesitated. Our high line with sluggish defenders continuously keeps him on his toes so he will have to keep bailing us out if we have any chance of Top 4. I do wish the coaches would stop asking him to thread passes around strikers when the alarm bells are screaming for a hoof plus yesterday we again coughed up possession way too often even when we mess around with it at the back so why take the risk of tic tac football in your own box if the lads ahead of you cant hold onto the ball themselves.

MOTM for us.
