They are not shite either, that will be a tough game.

Could be any number of things; someone else was even less fit so Kante had to step in, the injury he picked up against Utd wasn't that bad, Lampard was keeping his cards close to his chest, etc.

There's nothing in it, managers play it coy or even outright lie about their players all the time, it's nothing new.

Hopefully he is taking a big early gamble because he is scared of being tonked. Hopefully it will backfire and Kante will have to come off early anyway

Don't get this attitude - our trophy haul hasn't exactly been brilliant in the last 15 years has it? Would love to win this tonight.

So would I!! Really looking forward to the game and I wanna see us win it.

But - I want the league more and this City team has made it essential to pick up maximum points, and possibly goals, at every opportunity.

Ultimately though:

Let’s just win both and discuss it later 🙂

I would have expected Giroud, Pulisic to definitely play and there was always a chance the Kante stuff was crap.
It seems Lampard rates this more important than Utd at the weekend, unless he under-estimated the brilliant strategy from Ole.....

I'll never understand the logic of resting players when there is a trophy up for grabs, the likelihood of the resting of a few players influencing  our title challenge is minimal, yet could be the difference in a trophy
Should be the strongest team, no exceptions
Minimal, maybe. But one point was the difference last season.

There's no guarantee City will get the same points as last season and I don't think we will either - I'd rather enjoy winning and competing for trophies this season - we'll do what we can in the league but I think of you're expecting us to lose only one league game again this season you'll be disappointed.

This is a major trophy. Completely crazy to actually resent playing the game in case the Old saints nick a point off us as a result, maybe, as if fat chance anyway.

You play football to try and win trophy's. Its not either /or. Play the game in front of you. Then, play the next one.

The simple fact that we are in this game means we are also good enough to beat Southampton later.

I have no expectations in terms of number of losses. I expect us to challenge and go very close (hopefully one place better). I also think it’s unlikely either of us hit the same number of points as last season, but it’s isnt beyond the realms, so I can understand why any dropped points would cause concern.
All last year I was saying they won’t keep winning but they did. Until they show a few more chinks in their armour we have to keep pace whatever that means - hopefully it won’t be as intense in terms of any dropped points being potentially costly.

But hey not the time for this discussion. Let’s win tonight and get another trophy, then let’s win Saturday and go from there.

Not that arsed if we win it to be honest.

BUT. Looking for a good performance and seeing the players and staff using it as a much needed team-building and fitness exercise.

No injuries and up and raring to win our next game is all I ask. If we 'win' it then OK fine. But if we 'lose' it - then does it really matter? Just another community shield.

Whatever happened to one game at a time? This squad has proved it can play 2 games a week, hence the rotation.
