No way that's a balloon.

Fingers crossed that the death toll is low from this.

Pat Carney, the council's spokesman for the city centre, said everyone's thoughts were with the families of those killed and injured.

"It's a very easy target - a concert hall where young people are enjoying music," he said.

From the BBC live feed. Suggestions it was an attack although it is all speculation at the moment. My thoughts are with those there this evening. Just horrible news.

It happened after the concert had ended too.

Whatever the cause, was probably just a matter of minutes between being in there at the time of the explosion or not  :(

Agreed. It's bad enough seeing the Twitter hordes falling over themselves to prematurely spread misinformation without our elected politicians doing it as well. And the leader of a major party at that.

David Richardson was at the gig with his daughter Emily, 13.

He said:

“The lights came on after the gig and people were starting to leave. As I turned to the left there was an explosion. It was about 40ft behind us near one of the exits. We just thought it was people messing about then it happened again. Another explosion sounded."

“Then we saw the smoke. Everyone just fled. Some people were injured. We saw blood on people when we got outside. People were just running all over the place."

“People have said it was a speaker or balloons but it wasn’t. It was explosions.”

Thoughts and prayers to those caught up in this senseless tragedy. Some people in the 'media' however need to take a fucking look at themselves in the mirror. Some scandalous 'reporting' from the usual culprits and networks who are milking a tragedy to spread disinformation.

If it's that many already I'm worried it may well reach 7/7 territory (52 victims)  :'( Ususally those numbers skyrocket by the next morning sadly.

No matter the cause it's already one of the largest losses of life in an individual fatal event in British peacetime history... just praying it won't get even worse than it already is.

Can we please reign this stuff in until it's clear what's actually unfolded?

It might not be clear for some time.

I'm towards Cheetham Hill. The regular police one is the one constantly circling. Suspect it was air ambulance landing and taking off too. Cloudy though.
