Henderson is still very important for us.

As a squad option yup. He will be phased out of the starting line-up. Fabinho wasnt bought to be back-up to Hendo and neither was Naby Keita. Both are better footballers and Henderson can't play the #10 as he doesnt have the skill set.

Henderson is a great back-up with his injury problems

If we sign Fekir our midfield core will be

Fabinho, Fekir, Keita, Henderson, Ox, Gini, Milner with Lallana being sold I would assume as we do not need 8 midfielders when we also have Grujic and Woodburn. My guess is Grujic goes on loan again and Milner plays a part when needed and leaves on a free next Summer with Grujic hopefully ready to step up that year.

Wonder what his squad number would be.  3, 8, 10 and 13 all available under 23.  Would like to see him in 23 perhaps.

Wore 2, 15, 16 for Brazil. 2 & 12 at Monaco. 20 & 33 at Madrid.

Clyne might switch to 3 - doubt the number means much to him. Sturridge might be on his way out. 33 is free. Or he could go for a new number.
My first article on Anfield Index on Shaqiri. Enjoy. bit.ly/2mAq3Qd

You sign Fabinho.

I was talking about this in the short-lived Fabinho rumour thread. It will be very interesting to see how Henderson is used next season. With Keita and Fabinho (and Lallana and Ox and Wijnaldum - and goodness knows who else!), what will his role be? I'm not saying Hendo's "worse" than any of those players by the way, but it will be interesting nonetheless. Klopp loves him and he's the captain. I think he's very good, settled and so important to how we play.

Of course it's always great to make your squad beefier and more versatile. I hope we can see good competition for places and keep all these great players happy and in rhythm :)

There are 4 competitions to not only play, but challenge for from next season & we have to use every player we have & we'll sign. This is the level we should look forward to.

Ticks the ability to win aerial duel too ;)

Most aerial duels won in Ligue 1 last season.

Just like when Mane was our alternative to Gotze, and it worked out brilliantly. If it is to be believed that Jorginho was our first choice. i can see the same working out here with our back-up. He'll end up being the better success of the two.

Few journos said we enquired last summer. Seems we've wanted him for a while.

Holy crap they make it seem like this is the signing of the decade. Coupled with some of the comments on here, I'm starting to feel like we're going to have our best midfield since Xabi left.

We'll need more -o names for the song to work :( Hendo can stay. We'll need to send Wijnaldum, Keita and Ox to each fetch a deed poll (Oxlade-Chamberlain's double barrel pisses me off anyway... like Jesus Christ Alex come on, pull your shit together)

http://The 24-year-old will join the Reds on July 1 after 225 appearances and 29 goals for the French club, with whom he won the Ligue 1 title in 2016-17.

Klopp believes the Brazilian not only raises the quality of the squad at his disposal even further but brings a mentality perfectly suited to the current dressing room.

“We have signed a fantastic player, but someone who is an equally fantastic person I think,” the manager explained to Liverpoolfc.com.

“His reputation as a character in the dressing room and his attitude in training has come through from everyone we speak to.

“He has a lovely family also - adding a person like this to our dressing room only makes us even stronger. What we have - in terms of our environment at Melwood and in the team - means anyone coming in must be of that build. They must be the highest quality person and player.

“He has ability and mentality to play at the highest level in a number of positions. He can play ‘6’, ‘8’ and ‘2’. This is cool.

“He is tactically very strong and football smart. I think he improves our squad and there aren’t that many players you can say that about in this moment, because the quality we have already is so high.

“I like that he is young yet experienced also, with a high number of games at a club that compete to win. Also, international caps for Brazil tells you something about him.

“This signing gives us new opportunities and for that I am excited. I’m sure our supporters will make him very welcome and at home at our wonderful club and in our amazing city.”

From the official.
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”

So if we sign Fekir, a midfield and attack of Fabinho, Keita, Fekir, Mane, Firmino & Salah? Not bad.

Is the bench extended for the League as well, or only for the CL? If so, we have a GK & CB and then can stuff in one of the Full Backs, and then show our strength with Hendo, Gini, Lallana (& Ox when he gets fit), new forward signing, Wilson & Solanke all in  ;D

So first of all a HUGE humble apology to the DM ULTRAS... I didn't think we'd ever sign a player like this.... tonight is your night.. well done for keeping the dream alive!

As I posted in ARSE (snork) ... its a somewhat underwhelming signing for me
I am prejudiced in that I don't really rate this kind of player generally and I don't massively see the need for us to have on ... however clearly we want an Emre replacement. I was hoping if we did get a '6' it would be someone

As for Fabinho ... he looks good rather than elite to me. There's nothing super special about his numbers/performance in France and Monaco players seem hugely susceptible to hype
It does look a big fee for a player with a skill set that's replicable elsewhere and that isn't a slam dunk (in my view - others disagree I know that before you all start shouting) and he doesn't improve us in the areas I'd like us to have improved our deeper lying midfielder

Hopefully its not a bad signing and its more midfield depth which is handy. I just disagree that this TYPE of player gives our team a big uplift or even a gain but I'm fully aware I'm in the minority on here.

At least we're getting done what we want to get done... attackers next please

As with all players, he will be judged when he wears the shirt.
