FAO: US Reds----tv info
« on: July 11, 2006, 02:55:41 am »
In case you don't already know..soccertv had this on their website:

Setanta Sports North America has sublicensed US video
rights to selected English Premier League (League) matches
each week during the 2006-2007 season
from FOX Sports International (FSI) for broadcast on
the subscription sports channel Setanta Sports USA
(available via DirecTV channel 615 and the GlobeCast satellite TV
platform for $11.99/month.)

As a result, FSI is NOT expected offer any
League matches via pay-per-view in the US during the 2006-2007 season.

Setanta also announced that Setanta Sports USA will have
English-language coverage of the French Ligue 1
and the Dutch Eredivisie during the 2006-2007 season, replacing
FOX Soccer Channel and ESPN Deportes as the US TV outlets
for those products.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I emailed Setanta the following:

Shane:

Can you confirm if Directv, Dish Network, and various Cable tv operators
will have the English Premiership Saturday and Sunday pay per view
matches?

There seems to be some confusion as to where us footy followers wil be
able to find the weekend ppv matches.

I have Dish network and paid for the entire season package last year.
Someone has sent me an email stating only Directv will have the ppv
matches.
My Mom watches them on Cox Cable ( well when Liverpool play....)

So what is the story with the 3pm Saturday and Sunday 4pm kickoff in
England ppv matches?

Thanx

We will make an announcement this week but until then I can't discuss it.
Formal contracts etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------

So either Setanta has negotiated with Dish Network and the cable suppliers and they will offer the Setanta programming either as a full blown "setanta" channel or through another channel under sub license. ( Like ESPN2 or OLN)

Or i'm going to Directv..

Guess we just have to stay tuned a little while longer..

cheers for the update.  here's hoping that sentanta is made available through all the outlets.  even at the 12 dollars per month, the number of games you get is well worth that price plus some

Thanks for the news - I too have Dish and have had my EPL PPV subscription through them since the 1998-1999 season.  Will not be happy if I now have to stump up for DirecTV, lease their equipment and subscribe to Setanta USA as it will cost more.  And I understand that Setanta and Dish have had issues in the past, so it's probably not likely that Dish will pick up the channel.

I see this has already been removed from the SoccerTV.com site - Oliver may be just surmising.  Don't understand why FSI would give up PPV rights?  There must be more here than meets the eye.

Fox Soccer Channel Makes Changes to EPL Coverage
If you've been reading the EPL Talk Blog the past week, you'll notice that we've been talking a lot about Fox Soccer Channel's impending coverage of the 2006/2007 Premiership season.

We can now confirm that FSC has changed their schedule regarding coverage of matches. Their typical schedule will now be:

Saturdays
10am ET -- Live Premiership match
12:15pm ET -- Live Premiership match
3pm ET -- Tape delayed Premiership match

Sundays
11am ET -- Live Premiership match

Mondays
3pm ET -- Live Premiership match

The 10am ET match on Saturday mornings used to pay-per-view, so that's a huge bonus to be able to watch that match and have it followed by the one at Noon -- for four hours of live Premiership coverage.

Most of us know that the majority of Premiership matches are played at 10am on Saturday, so it'll be interesting to see if FSC shows the results of the matches near the end of the 10am broadcast (except, hopefully, for the 3pm tape-delayed match -- so the pleasure of watching the 3pm isn't ruined).

The other benefit is being able to see the Sunday match live at 11am ET rather than the tape delayed time of 1pm ET. Bravo to FSC!

Remember where you read it first! More details to come about the 7:45am Saturday matches, the 8:30am Sunday matches and the midweek games.

Looks ok to me though I am wondering what will happen to the 7:45 games as those are normally derby games.

Bloody Setanta, the bane of my existence. Sick and tired of these halfwit clowns. I honestly thought FSC had it nailed down last season, and was looking for more FA Cup coverage and the like. 7.30am games in bed, a PPV fee every 4-5 weeks, and then free games at 12 and 3. Close to perfect.

Now it looks like it's back down to the pub to fork over $10 a game to some mafioso again because I can't get a dish. Regressing to 1999 again ffs. I think it's almost time for my annual hate mail to Shane O.

Bah.

And you're right our first league matches are 7:45 am eastern kickoff start times. Hope to god we can watch them live. Otherwise I just catch them on E-season ticket. But would rather watch.

we always got our live games for free, but on the off chance Setanta got the game, they made they pub charge between $10 and $20 per game - or a season ticket for $75.

Just what I thought - Oliver jumped the gun on his (soccertv.com) website.  The Setanta ad on his site still says showing "2 matches on most weekends" so it may still work out that they're showing the early games.  But again, I don't get why Fox Sports International would give up showing any PPV games.  Not that I'd complain!  It just doesn't make sense though.

I thought Setanta was supposed to announce their plans by now?

As for paying on line, why would you when you can get it for free through P2P programs.

No offence, but seeing as you are an admin of that site I find your post to be somewhat spam in nature.  In fact on that site you ask other members to go to other message boards like this one and post about that site to increase membership.

I will stick with the free P2P.  Have never had a problem getting a great stream and connecting the s-video to my TV to watch it full screen.

Thanks, 4pool.  However, if it's really just the Saturday 7:45am and Sunday 9:00am matches we're talking about, I think I'll just get the streams or watch them at the pub.  There is also the possibility (as FSI is sublicensing the games out to Setanta) that they will be replayed on FSC during the week.

DirecTV carries Setanta's service - unless you think there's something else to worry about?  Believe me, I'm no fan of Setanta's but I think that's all there is to it.

No that was pretty much it.  Setanta USA is only available on Direct TV as of today.  If what is posted above is true and Setanta gets two games from Fox Sports world  then I am not sure I would be that much affected.

Last season two games were always on Pay-Per-view.  I never paid for those in the first place and just streamed those game from the web.  Now if those move to Setanta and are no longer on Pay-Per-view than I will still be streaming them on the net.  No real change.

So unless you bought a season Pay-Per-View package than this would not affect you.  I just hope FOX Sports world maintains its 3 games on Saturday, 1 Sunday, 1 Monday routine.  If they do then I am fine.

Didn't read your other post.  Looks like you have the same idea.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this.

I'm in Vegas for the Charity Community Shield and was wondering if this is the sort of game that will be shown on US TV?
