Herb: [on phone] Okay, this is what you're gonna do. You're gonna hang up, call me back, and say the exact opposite of everything you just said. Goodbye.
[hangs up]
Herb: Bart, Lisa, come over here.
Lisa Simpson: What is it, Unkie Herb?
Herb: I want you to hear what the guys down at the plant think of your old man.
[phone rings]
Herb: Hello?
Engineer: Um, Homer Simpson is a... brilliant man with lots of well thought-out, practical, ideas. He is ensuring the financial security of this company for years to come. Oh yes, and his personal hygiene is above reproach.  :lmao
That last line about his personal hygiene kills me everytime.

The moments where Homer meets Herb, Mona leaves Homer and the end of "And Maggie Makes Three" are very touching and sweet. Great facet of the old episodes.
Great chiefs and great loves in obliterated light

Was buying some soil for the garden and Moe popped into my head:

Homer “And you didn’t think I’d make any money.  I found a dollar while I was waiting for the bus!”

Marge “While you were out earning that dollar, you lost forty dollars by not going to work.  The plant called and said if you don’t come in tomorrow, don’t bother coming in Monday.”

Homer “Woo-hoo!  Four day weekend!”

Love Homers money making schemes in those early seasons.

Homer: Okay, boy. This is where all the hard work, sacrifice, and painful scaldings pay off.

Employee: Four pounds of grease... that comes to... sixty-three cents.

Homer: Woo-hoo!

Bart: Dad, all that bacon cost twenty-seven dollars.

Homer: Yeah, but your mom paid for that!

Bart: But doesn't she get her money from you?

Homer: And I get my money from grease! What's the problem?

Lisa on ice was just on, such a great episode.

Homer: Lisa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else -- and it hasn't --
it's that girls should stick to girls' sports, such as hot-oil
       wrestling, foxy boxing, and such-and-such.

I was discussing with my brother the other day what the top ten best ever episodes would be. We didn't have much of a consensus, I think the only 3 we both put in our lists were the George Bush episode, the B Sharps episode and the one with Sideshow Bob where they go into Witness Protection on a boat.

Needless to say we don't know the actual episode titles.

"Our residents (bang) are trying (bang) to nap! (bang)"

From the episode Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in The Curse of the Flying Hellfish probably the longest episode name in existence.

Plus the early Sideshow Bob episodes are/were amazing.

"Oh I see when it's one of my plans you can't foil it fast enough, but when Cecil tries to kill you, it's hopeless, utterly utterly hopeless."

Mr Plow, Softball, the Hank Scorpio one, Who shot Mr Burns and the Monorail one. Also liked whenever Lisa and Bart teamed up usually in sub plots, they seemed to get the best out of each other. Goes without saying the first seasons are where you find the golden episodes.

The uploader for the following vids reviews a ton of the episodes on his channel and loadsa other simpsons stuff, heres just a flavour

Agreed the early Sideshow Bob episodes are classics.

Lisa, you don't spend ten years as a homicidal maniac without learning a *few* things about dynamite.

Sideshow Bob: Hand over all your money in a paper bag.
Apu: Yes, yes. I know the procedure for armed robbery. I do work in a convenience store, you know.
