Bumping this just to say I've binge watched nearly all 3 seasons in less than a week. Brilliant show that manages to blend together perfectly some unbelievably bleak, thought provoking moments and also some great comedy.

The Vincent Adultman character had me in absolute stitches several times. Really great minor character.

For some reason I find it even funnier now I know Alison Brie voices his character.

There's one moment that I literally nearly fell off the couch laughing at the other day. Think it's when he's out with Princess Carolyn having a very serious discussion about their relationship, then after a quiet moment he bursts out with "I want another soda!"

No idea why it tickled me so much.

I'm not sure what's funny about Vincent Adultman. He's just a regular business man who went to the stock market and did a business.
He's definitely not 3 kids stacked on top of one another.

Yeah, I remember that. Love how they keep shoving all the clues about him towards Princess and nothing happens.

Biggest laughing out loud moment for me was the ending of the underwater episode which was a brilliant episode in itself.

Best animated adult TV series imo. Does such a good job of portraying depression and self doubt while still being funny. Season 2 and 3 are extremely strong and some of the best TV I've watched recently.

Agree.

Bit ticked off that it's not coming back until September though.

I guess Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones will have to keep me going until then.

YES. I've watched all 3 seasons. Very funny show and quite heavy at times too.

I remember a few episodes absolutely took my breath away either by being so hilarious (the one where Mr Peanutbutter hosts the game show created by J.D. Salinger) or just so heavy (the one where he hallucinates about an alternate life with Charlotte). There were lots of other bittersweet moments (that I can't remember now) that almost put the show in a genre of its own. Love it.

Christ, this series is so good.

Just finished episode six and found it absolutely brilliant.
Spoiler

Few pieces of Bojack's inner dialogue and struggle reminded me of very familiar situations. The ending sequence kinda floored me because...the same as before!
Quote

Hollyhock: Like, sometimes I have this tiny voice in the back of my head that goes, like, " Hey, everyone hates you! And they're not wrong to feel that way! "

Bojack: I know what you mean.

Hollyhock: That voice, the one that tells you you're worthless and stupid and ugly...

Bojack: Yeah?

Hollyhock: It goes away, right? It's just like a dumb teenage-girl thing, but then it goes away?

Bojack: Yeah.

Well of course it does not necessarily go away, most probably it won't but also, as an afterthought and possibly am reading too much into this, Bojack by intentionally lying maybe it bodes to what have preceded between them when he told her he will never lie to her again. He does now but he does it cause he loves her and she doesn't have to know yet.

PS: Levels of quality again high in series 4 and what a wonderful episode the one with Beatrice as a kid.

It's superb. You can tell that so much care goes into creating every single scene.

I couldn't help but watch the whole season at the weekend but have a feeling this one will benefit from a rewatch even more than the previous ones.

Episode 11 was outstanding. Not the sort of episode I was expecting back when I first heard Netflix were making a show about a cartoon horse.

Finished it yesterday. My oh my, episode 11 was so heavy and powerful. Absolute quality. In other series, it would be catalogued as series changer but with this one you expect this sort of quality.

Focusing on Princess Carolyn, Beatrice and introducing Hollyhock proved such a clever and spot on move.

Thought Series 4 was the best of the lot. Loved it. The writing is immense. It's both hilarious and so darkly sad as well. Not even ashamed to admit I shed a tear during the last scene of the last episode. Episode 11 was amazing.

I could do without Todd if I'm honest but other than that flawless.

The episodes that focused on Beatrice and PC were absolutely spectacular. PC episodes are always great, but this one was an even bigger gut punch than the others.

I thought this season started a little averagely, but it grew into something very special by the end.

Can't wait for the next season.

Episode 11 is a work of tragic-comic genius....more food for thought in 30 mins than a lot of real dramas manage in an entire series...hats off

I'm currently half-way through season 2. It's incredibly good and bleak, maybe they're related.

As is said in plenty of places the first half of the first season was quite forgettable but then it changes. There's despair, the absurd and is downright depressing and funny at times but it's also very relevant to most lives today.

It's brilliant.

It's not quite the levels of S3 and S4, but it's a grower. I think it's a setup season for things going in a different direction.

It's left me with the same hollow feeling at the credits of the finale I've had for the previous 4.

I've never felt more nauseatingly sorrowful for cartoon animals before, and I've watched 4 series of Bojack.

New Season is out. It's extremely good

It was great, wasn't it. Was really funny too, and clearly sets up a thread for next season. Glad to see the (minor) decline I experienced with season 4 is firmly in the rear-view. Also that blip will probably disappear when I rewatch it for the first time.

It's left me with the same hollow feeling at the credits of the finale I've had for the previous 4.

More than season 3?! Surely not! Oh actually as I type this I remember that the sorrow isn't all in the finale of that one. Amazing season though.

Personally I prefer season 3 and 4 but it's not like the last one wasn't strong enough. It sure did maintain the high standards of quality we're used to with that series. Comedy, social commentary and mental health is always at the top of the show's agenda and that's what makes it stand out.

This is one of those things that’s CONSTANTLY recommended to me on Netflix so I started watching it about a month ago just to get rid of it. Absolute masterpiece.
