Suspect Zidane knew a significant amount of reinvestment was needed but he wasn't given reassurances.

Neymar, Mbappe and Hazard will be on the radar. That's 500 million. Thank fuck all our players signed long extensions.

He'll be under far more pressure next time if he gets to spend wads of cash and it doesn't improve.

Not that I’m suggesting anything but these contracts mean absolutely sod all nowadays.

Interesting he’s come back but he’s played a bit of a blinder. Pretty much has a free pass for the rest of the season and next and will probably be offered a tonne of cash.

Hazard and Neymar would be two that I would expect to make the jump

Apparently his priority is not only signing Hazard but Kante too. Modric and Bale will probably be shown the door.

now the path is clear for José to arrive at the destination he always dreamed of: the mighty Everton!

Would be an interesting choice but I believe Inter remain one of few clubs to really with a high likelihood of a good match

I'd imagine most selling clubs will rinse them for the transfer fees.

I'd also hope some clubs see sense and don't buy their ageing squad and yes I include Bale in that. No way they can raise 200 million in sales although they're guaranteed 125 million a year with some new sponsorship deal  :o

The gist seems to be

- Still can't speak much Spanish
- Often doesn't interact with teammates by going to social events
- Seems to prefer golf to football
- Often injured

The Madrid players have allegedly took to calling Bale the golfer based on the fact he regularly golfs after training, as well as the alien because he comes across as being remote and aloof. Maybe he's just an introverted person.  Given he's used the likes of Modric as a translator since he got there, it's not surprising his Spanish is still allegedly poor. El Macca he isn't.

Courtois has been so bad for them, any chance he gets sold too? Bale is as good as gone (hello Man Utd/China) and Inter have been flirting with Modric for a year or two now so wouldn't surprise me if he goes out there. Just wondering about player sales really. They will have to make the money back somewhere.

It will be 2009 again in the attacking department that's for sure.

This should be clarified in that it's Spain and the event usually starts at 11pm or later.  Seems Bale isn't much of a night owl.

Aside from that maybe Bale wasn't worth his fee but I think it's more that Madrid fans are just massively entitled twats.

Deffo. Always seems the case with managers who prioritise not conceding goals though, in the end it all just burns out and the players look fed up.

Interesting to see what happens there this summer. Feels a bit like they need an overhaul with a lot of players leaving and plenty of new faces yet they've gone back to their previous manager 🤔

I agree that's Atletico have been immensely disappointing since 13/14, unable to really build off that early success and he should probably go. But part of me also wonders how he'd fair in a post Messi/Ronaldo world and maybe he should hang on until those two age out?

While undoubtedly they were unlucky to face such sides in the final, right now with the side they have, they should be challenging for the title. I undrestand playing defensively against the top sides, especially in knock out competition but against the lower sides to play that way with the players he has, after all these years is pretty redundant. They've dropped silly points this season against sides they shouldn't have.

I would understand if Atletico let go of Simeone for a tactical shake up alone. But my issue is less tactically more about morale. Having to deal with Messi and Ronaldo every year for close to a decade across all 3 non-Europa league competitions has to take a heavy toll on the motivation of the squad. Both facing them directly or just trying to keep up with them in the league. I'm not sure any manager in the world could have motivated them regardless of tactics. Which to me, seems a little unfair on Simeone.

That's not an excuse to only score 39 goals with ten games left in the season. They have the best defensive record in the league by a mile, but at the same time, they've scored one goal more than the 15th placed Levante. You can't use Messi and Ronaldo as an excuse for that. He's not managing a bunch of mid-table players either.

Again I understand the losses against Real and Barca in knock out competition, but you can't use that excuse when you're playing defensive football against the bottom place sides in the league. That alone is a tactical issue not a morale issue.

And if you cant motivate the players any longer then you have to step aside for someone who can.

Bit off topic but has anybody done the Barcelona stadium tour of the Nou Camp? I will be in Barcelona next weekend however not sure what time of the day so wondering if it's as easy as just turning up at the ground and buying a tour ticket. They have so many available slots online I figured it would be easy enough.

This was 04 so a few years back but it was all chilled.

We also bumped into Ronaldinho who stopped and chatted and posed for photos, it was some morning.
