When he was Col Mustafa, I remember the crowd absolutely going wild when the Ultimate warrior ripped the Iraqi flag to shreds at the Royal Rumble in 1991. There would be uproar if that happened now.

Think its probably a work to be honest but sure there will be nice moments in there where he says he hates the elite and how he'll never work with them again etc etc

Is wrestling worth watching anymore or is it more of a kiddy thing now?

 I caught a bit of it recently on youtube because our kid has started getting into it but it was this cringey segment where Rey Mysterios son is now apparently a wrestler with a mullet (I remember him last appearing as a little kid and something about him being Guerreros son) and was saying he's not going to listen to daddy anymore and he's a man now.

 Also saw some bit with Youtuber Logan Paul was there, presumably marketing his prime drink that the kids are going nuts over for some reason?

Seems like it's gone a lot more for 9 year olds than it was even 15 years ago when I last watched

I dont think geared more towards kids i just think the product allows itself to be able to be watched by kids. Back in the day you would see a lot of naked women doing some questionable things on screen and i guess adults/parents wouldnt want their child to see that. You don't really see that stuff anymore or the so much of the swearing.

I'd probably compare it like current wrestling is like watching The Simpsons, where as old school wrestling was like watching South park

I mean, the Dom and Rey storyline is basically straight from the Attitude era. Same with Logan Paul, just another celebrity like they've always had (except this one happens to be brilliant in the ring).

Things haven't changed as much as people make out IMO, it's just that we've got older.

AEW tries for the middle ground between entertainment and actual wrestling. They say shit


New Japan Pro Wrestling is probably seen as being for more the hard core fans. They say nothing but stiff you with a shot instead.




Also WWE is quite insular whereas AEW, NJPW, Ring OF Honor, Lucha Libra, Impact all have wrestlers that go work on the other promotions and some rivalries etc cropss over from promotion to promotion.

Same here, WWE is way too crisp and the LEDs everywhere makes me want to vomit before even mentioning the shitshow that happened at the boardroom and Vince being back.

It's not all necessarily a bad thing being more kid friendly (WWE that is). The respect women get these days is a far cry from the days of Sable. The teenage boy me enjoyed that type of thing but I'd be embarrassed to watch it now. Also, you are less likely to get less "edgy" storylines now like Katie Vick, The Big Bossman draggin Big Shows Da's coffin out from his funeral, Mae Young and Mark Henry etc. All awful television and stuff that belongs to the 90's with Jerry Springer.

AEW is a different beast and I can't see it appealing to kids as much, certainly not going by the crowds at the live shows.

The complete overproduction of WWE is what puts me off. From the massive LED stage, the LED lighting on the ringposts and apron to the silly CGI shite on entrances. It's clearly geared towards kids. Give me a gritty 1998 Raw show with a cool stage, strobe lights and cool pyros any day.
