Ronaldo is just trying to plug Real Madrid.
At this point, I'd be almost happy if he joined them.

Not entirely sure he'll go, but it's more likely than not.

If he is to go, then let us dictate the terms, not Barcelona.

Tell them up front, we're not playing your dance.   Tell them to get it done early, and with a serious offer, not the chicken shit 52 instalments, and making a bid 48 hours before the window closes, hoping the pressure will make us cave in.

Fuck them.   Twat of a club.

Serious offer, early in the window, or no deal.

We're quite happy for him to see out his contract. Anything else is going to cost you a premium.   :wanker

Ousmane Dembele. Think he cost them something like €120mill.

Supposedly Barca's finances are a dumpster fire right now.  There's no way they could afford £150m on top of whatever salary Coutinho would command.  It's why their bids last summer were so derisory as they don't have the money.  PSG seems like the only destination to me and then they'd run right into FFP which they're already under investigation for again.  I don't see Coutinho leaving for a fee we want and why Barca's trying to agitate him so much so that we'll just accept whatever they can offer which is a joke.

He is worth £150 million minimum.

He will get better too so sell him after the WC if at all.

But will he want to leave after we have won the CL?

If only we could sign the sunshine from Barcelona ffs I genuinely think that's a massive reason for South American players to move there - they just feel more at home in that climate - we can win everything domestically and even the CL and he'd still want to go - only have to look down the road at what Ronaldo did to the Mancs, all the trophies and money you could want but was still throwing the odd "I'm a slave" comment.

At the end of the day I'm gutted as I watched him fully develop into a world class player, from that curly haired lad that was pinging them through balls, opening the pitch with angles I've never seen before to a goal and assist machine he is now. We got him for an absolute steal and hopefully he signs off with a trophy or two and I wish him all the best.

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

Putting it a bit far...

Their turnover is enormous...  but then, so is their wage bill and their amortisation for player fees...

The biggest problem they have is that they have about £300m debt and they are spending about £5-600m on revamping the camp nou.

They are far far from broke, but they are spending a huge amount t on their stadium for very little return, and they have not insigficant debt...

What has happened is that the premier league clubs have caught up with the big two in Spain and they can’t finically bully them any more by making offers they can’t refuse... they offered £75m for Coutinho...  the price we’ve just paid for a centre back.  They got the market very very very wrong in the summer and tried to force a move by kicking up a fuss.. plus the fee was payable over five years, this is very unusual, most fees are over 2 years ..

Wouldn’t surprise me if they dedicded that they couldn’t afford him... because they need to pay up if they want him..

Coutinho can't realistically leave now. We'd be mental to sell.

Whether Barca come with an offer now or in the summer (and they will), they need to realise just how poorly they handled things last summer. We are not new to this game. Just place a good bid, say 150M+ from the start. No bullshit, don't try and fool the player to go to the press etc. If they come with another 100M bid, plus some talk about sunshine and more than a club, we should put an asking price of 250M on Coutinho and never bother to discuss until that fee is offered. At least when it comes to Barca (or PSG or City). If they want him (and they do) they have to pay for it. We just paid 75M for VVD. 150M+ is not only fair, it's to be expected for a player like Coutinho in this market. In particular as Barca got ~200M for Neymar. They paid the fee for Suarez, now they need to do the same if they want another top class player. We have no urge to sell and hopefully we decide not to.

Even if we did have their climate, teams like Barcelona and Real are huge in South America, footballers often grow up idolising them.

At least from what I've read, and what Barca board members will state when not talking about Phil, is their wage bill is so out of whack right now that they can't do anything until they start moving some players.  Arda, Gomes, Rafinha, Vermaelen (LOL) etc are on stupid high wages.  If their turnover was so huge to where they were awash with cash why the £75m or 80 paid in 4 or 5 installments with 50m in add-ons that we would never see?  It's because they don't have the cash.  Ballague is saying it's either Griezeman or Phil, I bet they do nothing this winter but try to sell and good luck with that.

He wont go this january. Barca wont be able to afford him this summer after the world cup, esp considering they will buy Griezmann.

No, I reckon Coutinho is staying here long term, if not for Neymar esque bid (200m+) from Real or PSG.

edit: and we dont need the money.

Logic would suggest a conversation with him. If he really wants to go - agree a deal for the summer, so he knows its sorted. It can't be too hard to persuade him to stay 6 months given he can't play CL football for them?
Gives us time, he leaves on good terms and gets what he wants.

given the chorus of ex players queuing up to tell phil to come to barca it's clear they definitely still want him; they must think they can bully us into letting him go.

their financial problems evidently not our concern so if they want him they need to raise sponsorship or sell players as their older players aren't for us.

are they paying for dembele over 5 years?  have no idea why that would work for us.

Hearing Klopp this afternoon, there is absolutely no chance of us selling Coutinho in January.

As to next summer, who knows? I would say it's odds on that Coutinho is still here come next September, especially in light of how the transfer market has exploded in the last 18 months and how rich the premier league clubs have become.

This imo.

I could see us potentially losing him Summer 2019 to PSG (not sure they could afford him next summer with the Mbappe deal to be finalised). If he sees us moving forward (serious CL and title challenges) then he may well be persuaded to stay, especially in light of the comments from various Brazil legends about the way Barca treat Brazilians.

There is no way he will go in January, besides which Barcelona cannot get both him and Grizeman in one transfer window. It seems to be a section of our fan-base who want shut of him, why I don't really understand. We need to keep our best players here, and add a bit of quality each season.

I'm all for punishing their antics and seriously hope we do so. Every time Mundo Deportivo or one of their players/board speak about him moving there I'd add an extra bit to the asking fee. They've obviously been doing this for years and it's great to see clubs standing up for themselves against these wankers.

He’s got €100m buyout, so he could easily go
Starting july 1st his buyout clause is 100m. Until then it’s 200m.

Really think it’s one or the other for Barcelona this summer. They get Greizman or Coutinho but not both.

If he does leave, i'd rather use the money to get Milinkovic-Savic than Lemar. If we also get Goretzka on a free, imagine the trio of Milinkovic Goretzka Keita.

he's 6 months into a five year deal.

Yes I know, but at the end of the day, you have to keep him happy. His value has gone up further since he signed that deal so he should be rewarded for that if we force him to stay.
