Something at the back of my mind says that they have an artificial pitch?

They do - https://www.sispitches.com/spartak-moscow/.

Don't see what Wijnaldum did at weekend to deserve a spot in first 11 personally. It'll be Henderson, Can and Coutinho imo.

Played better than Can for the last several games. Tried harder than Can. Only one of those would be enough, but when the lack of effort is so clear, I wouldn't even be fussed about how the played trying hard but failing does (eg Chamberlain the other night)

Having read that it's still grass but interwoven with artificial fibres

Very much like our new one

Thanks, I've not heard of him before, maybe those interested in French football might have?

How come?

Because they've both played the majority of our minutes so far and I can't see him starting all 4 of Coutinho, Salah, Mane and Bobby in this

Smashing read that buddy, cheers! Great to game another game so soon after that win. That said it's a fuck of a way to travel, hope we arrive fresh and ready!

That's mate. Happy to be involved.

That's a great, informative OP. Thanks Stockdam!

That's for the kind words.
In fact, everybody, please say thanks to all the guys who create these writeups as they all do it in their own time and it takes a bit longer than you would think (especially editing to make the content look good).
There are a lot of guys and girls on this forum who try to create good content instead of tittle-tattle and it's nice to hear a word of thanks sometimes.

Their forum says that all of the tickets have been sold. Also I think they said that Glushakov may not play which is good for us as he is one of their better players. They also confirm that Quincy Promes, and Pedro Rosa will probably miss the game.

Overall it seems that most people in their forum think that we will win.

THanks for the OP! Very nice write up :-)

Salah and Mane must play this game. They'll destroy their full backs, they are very slow. 4-0 then take Mane and Salah off ;-)

We can only play one way.

Go out and get 3 goals in the first 30 mins to give us a small bit of confidence and take it from there.

Mane will be chomping at the bit for this.

Exactly.

This is will be one of the most important games we will play in years, I do not comprehend  how some here are contemplating resting one of our best players and it's not as if we're deep into the season. We rested them (bar Coutinho) in the cup game last week so they could play in the league and in the Champions League.

All I wanna see is that front 4 of Firmino, Mane and Salah with Coutinho in midfield at last. Play to our strengths and that means fielding our best players from the start. We're not Man City with their billion quid squad, we don't exactly have comparable deputies to have the luxury of rotating our players in a crucial Champions League tie.

But I'm not talking about likelihoods, I'm talking about what I want. Personally would prefer all three of those guys (plus Coutinho in Mid) playing over him on Tuesday. Maybe even Woodburn, but I'd prefer that off the bench.

One good half in ten, does that make it? I would disagree and limit it to the first twenty minutes, too.

The whole contract situ is as worrying, we are practically sticking by and developing an underperforming player who probably won't be with us past next Summer

I'd make one or two changes for this, freshen things up a little;

Karius

TAA Matip Lovren Robertson

Henderson

Can Coutinho

Salah Sturridge Mane

Huge game.. Need to follow up Saturday's 3 points with another 3 tomorrow..
Play the best possible side that is available, which according to me at the moment is:

                       Mignolet

TAA      Matip                 Lovren     Moreno

      Can        Henderson      Coutinho

      Salah          Firmino        Mane

Ideally I would put Gomez at RB, as I feel he is a bit more solid defensively compared to TAA, (who has been patchy so far this season to say the least) but Joe is suspended for this..

Some would argue the same applies for Moreno and Robertson, but i just feel, Moreno is showing some consistency and we need to encourage him.. Plus he tends to link up well with both Mane and Coutinho.. The fact that he's best mates with Coutinho also helps i guess..

Looking forward to this. Expecting a win and think we need to get 3 points on the board after drawing with Sevilla. Going for a 3-0 win and hoping to see something like this.

Mignolet

TAA   Matip   Lovren   Robertson

Wijnaldum   Henderson   Coutinho

Salah   Firminio   Mane

Find it a bit strange you're castigating Can when he roughly doubled Wijnaldum's whopping total of 34 touches the other night. And that's with 15-20 fewer minutes.

I know you're talking about "work rate" but is it possible that your eyes are playing tricks on you? Because if a midfielder is having double the touches of someone in essentially the same position as them then surely there's a good chance he's working harder off the ball to receive it than his team-mate.

-

Anyway, I expect the team to be:

Karius

TAA Matip Klavan Robertson

Can Henderson Coutinho

Firmino Sturridge Mané

I think we may see Lovren, Moreno and Salah get a rest for this one with the latter, Milner and Oxlade to be important options off the bench.

Strongest possible eleven here. A win negates the draw with Sevilla.

                      Mignolet

TAA      Matip                 Lovren     Moreno

      Can        Henderson      Coutinho

      Salah          Firmino        Mane

Would be my guess.

Confident we can won this one.

Similar lineup to previous posting.... (only exception Gk, Gini)

             Karius
  Trent    Lovern   Matip  Moreno
        Hendo      Gini    Coutinho
          Salah    Firmino   Mane

I wouldn't mind klopp giving Firmino a break (replace with Sturridge) , .....

Just that i am super excited to see Coutinho, Salah, Firmino and Mane on the same pitch. Jesus.....just thing of all the chances we will create with these awesome foursome. Even if we convert 10% of those chances....we will win by 3 or 4 goals.... (or even more)

Rest no one.

Play our front 4 together for the first time.

Smash the fuck out of them so we don't have to worry about inevitably conceding a set play. Go onto 4pts and potentially take charge of the group.

I'd play Henderson and Can despite Can being far from great of late.  Tempted by the thought Milner could get a game at right back.  Gomez of course is out and I feel TAA needs a little protecting atm.

Sounds good to me.

Can't wait to see the front four all on the pitch together.
With TAA and Moreno/Robertson bombing down the flanks, that is going to be some attacking force! We'll no doubt concede, but we'll comfortably outscore them!

Clément Turpin is the ref.

Generally good, understands the game is not about him but not afraid to step in.
Is a bit cardy, averaging 4/game in Europe, but prefers to go the talking route initially rather than a second yellow.
Has had some apalling games though, really doesn't like players getting into his face. He was in charge of the PSG - OM last year and PSG - Bordeaux the year before and neither was a great performance.

I was reading up on them, seems like they've been in disarray lately, even calling for Carrera's sacking too. But teams like these have been bogey for us lately, everytime we've come up against a team in freefall they always seem to turn it around against us.

But hopefully things will be different this time. Just got back from my 3 week vacation. It's time to start playing well again.

I know you're talking about "work rate" but is it possible that your eyes are playing tricks on you? Because if a midfielder is having double the touches of someone in essentially the same position as them then surely there's a good chance he's working harder off the ball to receive it than his team-mate.

As I said, it's over the last five or so games that he's been atrocious. I don't think touches in itself helps draw conclusions, especially just for one game. It could be that Can was dropping deep to receive the ball as he was getting bored of being further forwards/not touching it for a minute, and neglecting the positions he's supposed to be taking up. It might be that whoever was on Gini's side was playing too conservatively, or was bypassing him to hit Firmino early.

Also is that unique touches? I'm sure it's just times he was in possession, rather than each actual touch. But if it's each actual touch, you could argue it shows how terribly slow in possession Can has been lately, taking five touches when two would do.

Also I'm not necessarily only considering work rate, but also what it is he's trying to do. Seems perfectly motivated to make the effort to support an attack, less so to track a runner, mark a zone or trying to keep discipline. I think he's been so poor for so many games now, it doesn't matter to me how Gini compared in one of them.

Great OP. Learnt a bit about them having known nothing beforehand...

Hard to predict then but I'd bank on our attack getting a goal or two against anyone. If defence is what they have strengthened up then will be an interesting night ahead.

Well then my work was useful. I knew very little either before last week. They seem to have a decent manager but things haven't been going well this year. We need to treat them with respect and work hard. I think we will have too much firepower up front and a win away would be very nice.

Resting Salah right now would be criminal.  Win the game early and then take him off after 60 mins so he can start the Newcastle game. Either way resting him is a definite no no.

Haha..........when do you think it would be safe though? I'd want to wait until the last 5 minutes if we were 3-0 up. We could easily ship 3 goals in 30 minutes.

I agree......play Salah, Mane and Coutinho. Probably Bobby too although I wouldn't complain if Sturridge started as he needs some game-time.
