Guardiola v Hodgson, two of the great innovators of the modern era. Id ally Palace bore their way to a point but if they get hammered by 5 or more it will provide plenty of amusement at least.

They've been screwed this week to be honest. A Monday night game before a trip to Belarus and then a 12 o'clock kick-off next Sunday is ridiculous.

Big game for Everton today, it should tell us exactly what kind of season it's going to be for them.  Also a big one for Newcastle I reckon.

Koeman vs Howe. Two managers who could give Steve Bruce a go for the biggest head in football.

Will we even get to see the pitch with those two on the sidelines?

That Spurs goal is a perfect example of how it is impossible for opposition defenders at times to defend with this offside rule.

West Ham play Kane offside by pushing up.  Very good defending.  But with this vague rules that Kane wasn't active (second phase), Ali then gets the ball who then crosses it to Kane who ends up scoring.

Kane went back onside, but he is surely active as the West Ham defenders are all out of position due to playing him offside originally.

In the past had The AC Milan defence of Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta & Tassotti played a player offside, then that was offside and the job had been done.

This new rule makes it so much tougher for defenders.  At times it is hard to tell if a player is active or isn't.  Surely if the person who ends up scoring the goal is active, as he's resulted in all the opposition defenders being out of position?

Go back to the old rule.  If anyone is played offside, then it is offside.  Much simpler.  Gives defenders a chance of defending correctly.  Get rid of the 'second phase', 'active / inactive' - vague rules.

The old rule was better, please can we have it back?

Agree with you.

Incidentally, as good as Kane is, it's the contribution of Ericksen that caught my eye for both goals.
