Sevilla have done some really good and also really questionable transfers. Kjaer and Navas are done, these guys are no good. They are not going to improve, they are basically going the wrong way.

However, they have done some good transfers. On the balance, I think they will be about as good as they were last year.

Cristiano Ronaldo told a Madrid court last week he wants to return to England, Sky sources understand.

The Real Madrid forward appeared in court last Monday to deny he had evaded about £13m in tax by using three off-shore companies based in the British Virgin Islands.

Ronaldo told the court he believed he had paid more tax than he should since he moved to Madrid eight years ago.

At one stage during his 90-minute appearance, Ronaldo said: "I never had these problems in England. That's why I want to go back there."

Manchester United sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £80m in 2009.

The Old Trafford club have distanced themselves from reports linking them with a move for Ronaldo and Sky Sports News understand they do not want to be involved in a media circus surrounding his future.

Ronaldo signed a new-five year Real Madrid contract last November.

United play Real Madrid in the European Super Cup final on Tuesday.

Navas is kind of an obvious move for Sevilla to take back though considering who he is and his history with the club. Also he was on a free and is no older than 32, so I fail to see the problem with that transfer?

Agreed, very similar to the Joaquin back to Betis move, it is their home.

He is free, but I would think his wages are too high. In any case, Navas is going to block another youngsters spot in the first team.

Sevilla traditionally rely on unearthing young, unknown players and selling them for a substantial profit. I just fail to see how Navas is helping with any of it. As a free transfer, it is not disastrous, but this is something Sevilla should avoid, IMO.

That said, Sevilla also brought Reyes back home. So this transfer is similar to that one.

Loved him as a player in the same way many Madrid fans love Messi. When you see magic, you have gotta tip your hat. Zidane, at times, was magic.

Spanish side Real Betis have signed Algeria midfielder Ryad Boudebouz from Ligue 1 club Montpellier on a four year deal for US$8.22m.

The 27-year-old said he was "proud" to join the Seville-based club.

Boudebouz, who previously played for Sochaux and Bastia, scored 11 goals and made nine assists in the French top flight last season.

He has 24 caps for Algeria but missed the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations through injury.

Real Betis finished 15th in La Liga last season, but new head coach Quique Setien has bolstered his squad significantly since taking over in May, with Boudebouz becoming his eighth signing of the close season.

bloody hell - maybe Paulinho on a free transfer I could understand - bolster the squad a little with an option they don't have too many of - but at 40m euros? Their other transfer targets must be worth a lot more than that then...

Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid boss agrees new deal

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has agreed a new three-year deal with the European and Spanish champions.

In 18 months in charge, the former Real midfielder has won the Champions League twice and La Liga once.

Speaking on the eve of their Spanish Super Cup first leg at Barcelona, he said: "My story with Real Madrid is deeper than contracts and signatures.

"I'm happy to be linked with the club. But the contract doesn't mean anything."

The 45-year-old former France international, who managed Real's B team before replacing Rafael Benitez in January 2016, added: "You can sign for 10, 20 years. I know where I am and what to do.

"In one year, maybe I won't be here. Real Madrid and I are not going to argue, never."

Real visit Barca on Sunday with the game kicking off at 21:00 BST, with the second leg on Wednesday at the Bernabeu (22:00 BST).

The biggest problem anywhere in the world is that people's perceptions of reality are filtered through the screening mesh of what they want, and do not want, to be true.

he has a 600 odd million release clause having signed a new contract. The Naymar transfer has really scared clubs so they are increasing the fees.

i don't even know how that works anymore, can clubs just put any number as release clause?
