true story about Ian B-F... he was playing in the Middle East on the European tour years ago. He was standing on the tee on 18, with 95 strokes already, hit his tee shot in the water and was DQ'd. Apparently back in the day, the tour had a 9 ball rule. You could only use 9 golf balls for the round. He ran out of balls, hence the DQ. Wouldn't have broke 100 on the day.It seems he can still play a bit with his mates and shoot in the 60's from time to time. But he has a bit of the yips putting and crowds bother him. So when he plays in tournaments he's shit. With his mates, with no one around, he can still get it around the course.
yer ma should have called you Paolo Zico Gerry Socrates HELLRAZOR
thats a bit sad to be honestthat was the first open i remember and he was absolutely speechless after. seemed like a great blokemust be so embarrassing to hit that high score as a pro. edit: just reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Baker-Finchits actually a sad read
David Duval was another player who had everything... pretty sure he hit a 59 once... then disappeared into nothingness.
A much better article from Sports illustrated. Still sad though.https://www.si.com/vault/1998/02/23/239208/driven-mad-after-winning-the-1991-british-open-ian-baker-finch-lost-his-game-and-in-a-desperate-effort-to-find-it-nearly-lost-his-mind#
Is anyone else annoyed that many of the commentators keep referring to the tournament being in Lancashire? No offence to our Lancastrian brethren, but it's in Merseyside. They get paid for this shit.
Not sure what channel you're watching on but Sky have referred to it as Merseyside on loads of occasions.
IT'S TURNING LEFT!
Beef Johnston. Mad as a box of frogs. What the fuck was he doing in that bunker? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/golf/40673166
On a side note - has anyone been so far? I'm going on Sunday, what's parking like?
That surely was a set up
Crosby Nick never fails.
Leaders not out til nearly 4, what's that about? Will it be earlier tomorrow in case of a Play Off?
Decent round from Grace.
Anyone but Rory the massive Manc.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
Think even Tiger would have gone under par today
I don't mind Spieth. If he wins this one he'd just be a USPGA away from winning every major and he's only 23! Easy to forget just how good he is sometimes.
Craig Burnley V West Ham - WEST HAM WIN - INCORRECT
+2 through 3 for Spieth. Only 1 ahead of Kuchar
Hope kuch does it , seems nice guy
Could someone else still win it from here if they get on a roll?
Some one needed to start off really hot on the 4s but no one has
