Yeah, it is.

It's deffo worth watching. I think it gets better with each season, and that's a difficult ask for a historical, actually any series...but it manages to do so.

(The burning question I have, is will Jessalyn Gilsig get her kit off again at some stage?... ;) )

Does anyone know the answer to this important question?
Am just about to start season three.

Nope I'm sure it's 10 episodes in the second half too.  Just going by the trailer it looks like there is far too much to happen in just 5 episodes.

I do wonder if season 5 will start in Feb like normal and do the same as this year?

Introductory as expected. Cannot wait what Ragnar will do with King Ecbert over the settlement. I have no hope whatsoever for any of his grown up kids. They managed to annoy me from the very first episode.

I can only apologise and blame my memory. ;D

I now recall reading in Variety last year that this had been given an extended season to 20 ep's...I blame my planner, it say's this this is done after 5, must be a end of year thing with the planner.

Think the guy who's playing Ivar is a brilliant actor. Wasn't sure how the show would survive without Ragnar (presuming he ever gets killed off) but there's a chance it could with him.

Good and enjoyable episode. Much better than the previous one. Bit confused about who's the king/in charge at the moment. Is it Bjorn? Or the other brothers with their mother (Queen)?

It sounded something imminent for this season. Yes he will live forever in everyone's hearts.

Spoiler
In the Sagas, Ragnar was killed in England by being thrown into a pit of snakes, and we saw way back that king Aella (the one who looks a little like John Rhys Davies) is keeping one ready, just for such an occasion.
[close]

I really like this show. It's got an amazing intensity that seems to be always on screen, regardless of what's happening or how many decades we've suddenly jumped forward (It's weird to think back to season 1, upstart raiding farmer Ragnar taking on 'the man'). I can't think of a single miscast part, everyone in it is utterly assured in their role.

I do miss Ecbert though, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how England has developed in the timeframe. I assume we'll see a recast 18 year old Alfred ready to repel to heathen!

Wasn't trying to spoil anythiing for you, I have no idea how it's going to happen or when in the series, but I'm a history fanatic somewhat, so I'm familiar with Ragnar and his story  so I only imagine the same will happen in the show.

OK mate. Didn't say you set out trying to spoil it :) Just looked like that you inadvertently posted a spoiler if the show goes by history (meaning that a possible chain of events that played out in the series also happened acc. to history books so his death may be imminent).

Another good and enjoyable episode. A couple of tiny issues

Spoiler
Lagertha realised in the midst of the battle that these are her people? When she went ahead with her plan to attack the place and people she grew up with I though it was/is a nice minor character development but that very moment put a bit of a dent to the whole context.

Want to see of course how the Rolo thing will pan out but the "I'm with you, I betray you, I'm back on your side, I cross you again" thing grows a bit thin.

Other than these things, the last two episodes have been really good.

Snap.

I agree with your spoiler, it was a somewhat convenient if improbable outcome, but it's still very watcheable.

Don't know about yourself, but right from the start I've been wondering if they will somehow incorporate the story of Eric The Red and Leif Erikson, it could be a whole new storyline/saga...

Out with the old to let in the new.

Spoiler
I'm not too convinced by the lesbian lover of Lagatha, she looks a bit too glammed up and modern like a 1970-80's Baader Meinhof member or a Krautrock singer, along the lines of 99 luftballons Nena.
I'm also not too sure how long Lagatha is going to be around, it might well be a short reign at Kattegat.
The viper pit scene was also a bit far fetched, some very non European looking snakes in there so unlikely in that period England, but yes I know, it's a fantastical TV series with a faint hold on historical accuracy so I suppose it was ok to suspend disbelief.
And no sign of the planned Mediterranean wanderings of Bjorn, Rollo and Loki yet, I expect the next episode will hopefully fill us in on progress if any on that.
I reckon The Boneless is going to be mean, as in utter ruthless bastard.
