They won just 7 in their last 31 games.

They were getting worse and worse.

Relegation form.

and NO I would not take him back at LFC, he's about as far away from our target philosophy as you can get.

Our defence with him assisting Kenny was pretty good. As it stands, we can't defend for shit.

This is even worse than that prick Morgan sacking Mick, almost guarantees Brom will be in a dogfight now and probably go down.

I know the team haven't been on a great run of form but seriously what do the owners of WBA or clubs of that size and stature expect? They're going to get runs like this from time to time. It's inevitable. Not every team can win the league, or qualify for Europe, or finish in the top half of the table. It's just not possible. And if you don't have the money or your not prepared to invest heavily in your squad until it's full of quality world class players, don't expect your team to produce miracles and go on massive runs in the league without defeat. It's as simple as that.

Shocking.
Having said that, I thought the same with Adkins and Southampton.

Absolutely. We could use a good defensive coach.

How many teams in England have defensive coaches? According to PoP not many at all.

What has that got to do with defensive coaches? I asked you a genuine question, if you don't know the answer just say so.

bit of a strong set of opinions on here! It's results driven, we were abysmal today, dunno why i bothered going as we barely turned up at all. Something wasn't right, we need change. I know it's a sparse set of managers out there, saying you hope we go down though? Come onn...

Didn't Arsenal bring in someone and their defence has improved 10 fold (today aside) since then

It has everything to do with the fact that we have never been doing things "The English Way".

As far as I know we have never had a specialist defensive coach before, just like a lot of other English teams. So it very much is the English way.

I know that Mark Lawrenson had a role as a defensive coach up at Newcastle many years ago and that Steve Bould came in to help out with the defensive side of things at Arsenal last season. But that's it. There are plenty of defensive minded coaches about but, I don't think they're employed just to sort out defences. After all a good team defends from the front. Defending is a team effort, not a job for defenders alone.

It doesn't really surprise me given their form over the last 12 months.  It's harsh as I always think that managers deserve more time, but that's not how it works anymore.

The way people are going on about it here you would think he had them in the top four.

Similar uproar when Adkins got legged and that turned out to be a good decision. Time will tell whether this is.

Too sensible a post to be taken any notice of.

Strange how many people insist that managers be given loads of time when it's not their own club directly affected.

Well, they are only 2 points of the relegation zone. And it is mid December.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but look at what happened to Southampton when they got rid of Adkins last season. Everyone was shocked to see him go as well.

The whole first team coaching set-up including rafa would've worked on the defensive side of things. Not just Pellegrino alone. Like I have already said defending isn't just the job for defenders alone it is the job of a whole team.

It depends who they get in really; if they go for an appointment a la Pocchetino (eg. not one of the usual muppets), it could be seen as a step forward, if they go for the manager merry go round of shit like so many clubs before, it was a waste of time to sack Clarke.

So, how is looking for a job from the usual suspects.
