Lee Dynasty on Aigburth Vale. They have a menu, but also do a set price which is similar to a buffet but they give you a list of the available dishes and you choose what you want and it's cooked to your order. Had a big family meal there last week and everyone loved it.

Thanks mate, thinking of somewhere in the city centre though. We come in to the city once every couple of months and I’d like to try somewhere different to our usual places.

If you fancy Japanese food then Etsu is really great though hard to get a table

If you're after Chinese then can't really go wrong with anywhere in China town. If you're after somewhere more central with bars nearby then I've heard good things about Mr Chilli (not been personally). If you want a bit more theatre then Sapporo Teppanyaki

Mr Chilli is my favourite. Ask for the Szechuan menu, Hot and numbing beef is a winner.

I went to La Finca Eivissa a few weeks ago and it was not good. The food had the feel of being pre-prepared and everything had been brought to our table within 10 mintes of sitting down. The food was average at best and we didn’t even eat some of it. We were only in there for half an hour, very disappointing. On the plus side, the place is quite nice inside.

Speaking of chinese, I love Big Bowl Noodle opposite the bombed out church front steps (more or less).

Not a posh restaurant by any means, but really good traditional chinese meals and you always get big portions.

For lovers of good pizza (see my post on the previous page), they've opened a Crust in Woolton Village, haven't managed to try it yet but hopefully its as good as the one on Bold Street.

My wife and her mate have been and said it was OK but if you are in Woolton and fancy a pizza then the Elephant is great and 2-4-1 all day Tuesday is well worth it, mind you if you have a few drinks then they get the money back right there.

Went to Il Forno last week for my youngest daughters birthday, it really was very good and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed it, not cheap though but recommended for a treat.

Was my birthday this week (September births eh) and we went to the Purple Olive in Hunts cross (the old Hunts Cross Hotel boozer) and I really like it, I think its better than the Holdi in Woolton Village and much cheaper. Got poppadoms, starter and main, should have binned the starter as I couldn't finish my main - but did the next day, lovely.  Also, maybe one for the arl arses but I remember Indians in Liverpool giving the poppadoms free while you waited, mind you years ago there really weren't that many Indian restaurants in Liverpool, certainly not in the suburbs.

The Barrie brothers (Ellis Barrie of Great British Menu fame) are opening a place in Liverpool (Albert Docks) next year. One to watch for sure.

The Marram Grass (Anglesey) is great quality, though sometimes a little bit out-there for my tastes :). BUT there's no doubt they do things properly and have been real ambassadors for my little corner of Anglesey. I'm sure they'll do great things in Liverpool now too.

Went to Tiger Rock last night which is South East Asian street food.

Had a bit of a mix between us and got to say it was all really nice and pretty well priced given the size of the portions.

Sanskruti again tonight, always a great meal.

It is always good isn't it?

Went back a couple of weeks ago after an afternoon seeing the Terracotta warriors exhibition. Then round the corner to the Cross Keys afterwards for a few civilized bevvies.

Perfect Saturday that was.

Had a nice meal at Churrasco on Eggy road the other weekend. Steak was very nice, and the place had a nice atmosphere. Would deffo go back.

And the Sing Faye [Chinese on the Lancs towards Haydock] was back on good form last week. Its never going to win any prizes, buts its a really good neighborhood restaurant that went off the boil for a while. Last weekend was our first visit in ages, and happy to say that the food was great. Staff are really nice too.

Went to Spire by Penny Lane yesterday and it was really very nice. I had the Haddock starter and Fish and Chips and both where beautiful, was with my two girls and one is vegan but they were equally impressed. It was the Prix Fixe lunch menu 2 courses for £14.95 or 3 courses for £18.95, well worth a visit, though it does get busy so maybe call them first.

Yeah we've never had a bad meal from there. We even got a takeaway a not too long back as they had 25% off if you ordered via Just Eat. Expected smaller portions, etc. which places normally do when they put such an offer on, but nope they were the same size as if you sat in and dined.

In fact just checked and that offer is still on - 25% off orders over £25.

Can't go wrong with the Cross Keys either, my local  ;D

Don't know what part of Liverpool you are in but The CookHouse in Mackets Lane (the old English Rose) was lovely when we went a couple of weeks ago.

Tried Yukti on Saturday night (one on Renshaw), and whilst it looks nothing of note from the outside the food was great. All four of us couldn't fault any of our dishes, although don't expect to be ordering your typical curries with loads of rice, naan and poppadoms.

Also did Brunch Club on Sunday morning. Full English was a bit expensive at £11 I thought but it was a pretty good size and the ingredients tasted great quality.

Went back to Neon Jamon on Penny Lane last Tuesday night for the first time in ages.

Foods even better than ever [they seem to have revamped a few of the old faves], but couldn't believe how  quiet it was. When we arrived there was one other table of two just finishing off. We were then the only two people in there from about 7.15 until about 7.45 when another 3 people turned up.

Service was nice and quick though!

Bit of both. It is more 'street food' so you don't find your usuals on there, but the portions aren't too small.

Been mentioned in this thread before I'm sure but went to Mowgli on Bold Street for the second time today. Incredible food. Got the Paneer (spinach and cheese) and the lamb keema with rice and a bit of warm bread. 2 pints of Estrella and came to just over 20 quid. So much flavour in the food.

Went to Crazy Pedro’s on Saturday which is more of a pizza gaff than a restaurant per se.

Got a Kimbo Slice and a few cans of Red Stripe which was nice.

Not tried the food but Beer Engine might not be a bad shout for such a big group. It's huge and loads of TVs so you'll get a decent view of the game.

May have to try and book though (no idea if you can like).

Yukti last night, wow!

I remember the days(80's & 90's) of only ever heading for a Chinese in town as most, if not all, Indians were pretty poor in the main. Not any more, Ramora, Sanskruti and Yukti in town(as well as the Swan) have turned the tables. Over to you Chinese restaurants.

PS, get the Manchurian Cauliflower.

I was looking for a good Chinese in town open at lunchtime. None open in Chinatown and those that were open looked drab.

So we went to Maray in Bold Street and the three dish lunchtime offer was excellent. Went to the Swan afterwards. I never knew Rammstein was so fucking loud.

Come ed Rawkites - over a month since any updates; you cant all be staying in.

60 Hope St for the first time in a long time the other week.

Really good - great atmosphere, great service and great food. Nice to see its still has such high standards.

Been back to George's Kitchen - still very nice food at reasonable prices, we were actually a bit worried when we walked in - every time we've been in the past its been chocker, but last Friday at about 8pm we walked in and it was half empty. No idea why, the food was as good as ever.

Really disappointed with Host the other week - bland food, no atmosphere and comfortably the worst experience we've had there. Wont be going back in a hurry.

Its sound mate-you'll need to book though.

Really enjoyed Maray on Sunday evening, think we were fortunate as it was quite quiet. The waitress was really lovely and the food was brilliant. Some really cracking flavours on the dishes. Small plates tapas kind of thing. Had 5 dishes between two. Started with the 'Berber Bowl' which had a rich confit garlic. The other dish which stood out was the cauliflower which was really flavoursome and complimented well with pommegrante seeds and harissa. Brilliant mix. Just rounded off a really nice weekend.

I think it stood out after our last Bold Street visit, which was the Italian Club, which wasn't that great for us. If it's always as good as it was yesterday, then I'd highly recommend. I'll definitely be going back as I'm actually curious and a little excited to try the rest of the menu.

Got Sanskruti to look forward to on Friday. I love Indian food and I've heard good things, so should be good!

Just popped in here to write about Maray and thought i'd check the last couple of pages first.

Went here Saturday, there was a group of us so we covered a fair bit of the menu and I have to say, every dish was excellent.
Cauliflower as above was superb, I'd really recommend it. All the fish was cooked superbly - the hake was outstanding as were the scallops. Shawarma Lamb was excellent as was the buttermilk fried chicken.
Good veg offering - as well as cauliflower, we had parsnips, broad beans, confit squash salad and lots of vegan options too - went for the sprouts  ;D which worked too.

Would recommend.
