There's the obvious choices that I've mentioned in the past, y'all know them. A couple that might have passed some by, I doubt it like, knowing the cognoscenti in here.
Action was a series from Fox that starred Jay Mohr as Peter Dragon a producer in the film industry. Fox didn't have a clue as to what they had, and it was one and gone. This was another example of a show too clever for the audiences and execs...stick this on one of the many channels available now and it would be loved. I recall complaints of it being too "insiderish," what can you expect from a show about being inside the film industry. A little classic I thought, then and now.
Another that was loved by critics and those with a smidgen of intelligence was Lucky Louie. Without this it's possible we wouldn't have been seeing the series that came after, Louie and Better Things. It's possibly it was "too raunchy" for the time...I thought not, but am norra prude. Looking back with the benefit of seeing both of those and we see what Adlon and CK were about back then. As with the above, so this.
