Messi doesn't defend, against us you need to defend as a team. You need to track back. Valverde let's him stand there waiting for the ball to break to him.

It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Great to see Getafe still in 4th place for a CL spot - just 3 league games to go. It's tight with Sevilla, Valencia and Bilbao on their tales - but hope they do it...

Apart from Messi not one of Barca’s players would start in our team. Ah, Pique actually.

Shows how good we actually are st the moment but also how poor Barca are. They had legendary players as I grew up in the past 20 odd years.
Now, very ordinary as said above other than Messi.

They do have moments of brilliance tho and at times we have brain farts in defence, we can’t let them punish us with he little chances that they do get.

Not sure if it's quite that simple. They obviously look to Messi, because why wouldn't you when the best player in the world is on your team? Sometimes that seems to make them unsure what to do when he's not there.

However earlier this season Messi was injured for several games, including matches against Real Madrid, Sevilla (who were going great guns at the time) and some Champions League matches. The other players, notably Suarez, really lifted their game for those matches and they sailed through them without Messi.

More?

What was the first piece of good news?  Barcelona's entire starting XI from the CL game struck down by mystery illness that is expected to keep them side-lined until Wednesday?

That Barca team shows the benefits though of having your league wrapped up early.  If we weren't such soft shites we would have 105 points after 35 games and been able to do the same.  I suspect in Pep's plans for the season he thought he'd be tossing off league games in March such would their lead at the top have been.

He seems to pick up loads of those. He had a couple of bad ones last season from what I remember.

He is an amazing player and I would love for us to sign him one day but it surely cannot be great that a player who relies a lot on pace picks up so many hamstring issues.

I was hoping Getafe may hang on in there to make it to the Champions League for next season - still, fair play to them - finishing 5th on their resources is impressive - as is the quality and attractiveness of their football too.

Unbelievable how they are treating bale. I’d have him here in a heartbeat (whether or not he is a klopp player and wages etc is another thing).

Astonishing how they are treating him. Zidane is a ball bag.

I wouldn't, injured too much for starters.

But I like him too, probably cos I'm Welsh  ;D  And he's always given his all to Wales and carried that team on his shoulders at times, he's like the anti-Giggs when it comes to the Welsh national team. So he gets my respect for that.

And yeah Zidane does come across as a right dick. He is perfectly suited to Real Madrid.

Bale will go to United.
No, jazz. You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft.

Bale will go to United.
He's completely not what they need, massive wages/injury prone, sounds perfect for them!

Bale getting the treatment he's having doesn't have that much to do with Zidane: the frenchman is only pulling off what the crowd of Real Madrid want. They all want him out, and have, rightly or wrongly, blamed him for promising so much through many years (as potential Cristiano replacement) actually being quite good a times this season but ultimately falling way short.

Spanish fans get upset by many things you'd think are irrelevant in the PL: they demand players being very committed, almost to the point of it being a facade or plain show, in that players have to have sad worried faces on the bench at all times if their team is losing, have to celebrate everything that goes their way (also when on the bench), etc.

Bale has been injured, has blown hot an cold (in the specific context of not measuring against Cristiano, again due to maybe unfair expextations)... yet the killer thing has been that Spanish media and fans have fixated on him going home from the stadium before the final whistle (ergo, not showing "commitment"), him barely speaking a sentence of Spanish (also, apparently, proof of his lack of "commitment"), etc etc.

It has a lot to do with cultural issues: Agüero and Silva probably speak as much English as Bale can Spanish, but that is practically a non-issue on the UK as long as you do well on the pitch. The sideshow of showing all that spiel of commitment is demanded here mainly on the pitch, by running, getting stuck in or whatever.
