Missed this Echo article when it was originally published, got 61 great pics of Anfield as it's been developed over the last 100 odd years.

Some excellent pics!

I note the Echo still don't provide a date for this:

The old thread is still in the History Forum: https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=286005.0

Been meaning to post this pic for a while & reading with interest about the rapid progress of our new Anny Road stand, me memory was jogged so thought I'd post this here. Found it in my late Dad's old photos.

I had to ask on Twitter because I had no idea which ground it was. Thanks to a couple of fellers, Chet LFC and Paul Town, it was identified as Anfield  ;D

Chet said: 'Anfield between 1928 & 1937, looking towards Anfield & Kemlyn Rds corner from the Main Stand, Lake St/Kop side. The ARE roof was refurbished following the 1923 fire repair, in conjunction with new Kop going up, and the penalty arc is missing, which came into use in 1937.'

Looks like we had a scoreboard in those days too  :)

[I`m not certain but i dont think thats fans filing out of the Kop especially on a match day. I think thats a picture of fans queuing for tickets probably a Cup game or derby, they would have you queu as far as stanley park then as you got to the ground sometimes you go thru the Kop and youd buy the ticket at the turnstile and out with your ticket. I ve done this a few times missing school to get a ticket.

I think that is the queue for the cup tie against Everton in March 67. Liverpool allocation of tickets were sold at the Kop turnstiles behind the Albert and under the Boy's pen. Sagged school to spend all day in that queue.

Always puzzled me this photo, was the roof cladding on the kop originally like a rust colour and it was re-cladded? or has the photo been colourised wrong?I've only known the old kop with grey cladding.

Early 60's. The section of the main stand roof was raised when the Kop got covered to improve sight-lines
