Chargers doing what the Chargers do best, looking like a good team then throwing it all away.

Oh will it?

Brilliant win for the Pats there. O-line still a mess, missing Brady, Gronk, Ninco and Lewis against a great team, on the road. Knew Bill had a plan but didnt think we'd win, just hoped we'd keep it respectable. Fantastic

Wow.  What horrible,  awful defense by the Colts.  The Lions picked up the yardage on every play with ease.

That was my sinking feeling/argument after watching it unravel. Then the thought that they are not that good in the first place, severely depleted and dead tired and rationalized my way into accepting defeat.

Pagano did it again. That fuck up of a coach took time out at 1:15 when we were in the red zone and by that he gave Detroit precious time and then I had to hear him say "we need to find a way to stop those slow starts"

It's been the case since the first game you managed there back in 2012 !!!!!!  :no :no :no :no :no :no :no :no :no  :wanker :wanker :wanker :wanker :wanker
Messi in fact doesn't have a recognizable trait.

Colts are a bad, bad team. I think Luck is something like .500 outside his division at the moment? Talented player but there's just nothing around him.
Maybe the group, led by your leadership, will see these drafts as PR functions and brilliant use of humor

Shaw with the INT wins it for the Bengals! Incredibly tough match. Whodey!

It's not often your teams QB gets sacked 7 times, throws for over 300 yards and wins. Margus Hunt with a couple of vital pass deflections and a tackle for a loss, maybe just maybe were starting to see the potential in the guy come through.

AJ Green is insane. Who Dey!

RG3 has been put on IR with the designated to return tag meaning he'll miss a minimum of 8 games.

Goodell might as well call it already: "With the first pick in the 2017 draft the Cleveland Browns select..................quarterback from the University of......................................."

Will there be a quarterback worthy of such a pick? I feel sorry for whoever gets drafted by the Browns. Any idea who their back up is?

Josh McCown, he had quite a good season for a Browns QB when he started last year.

RGIII is finished. Looked very assured in his rookie season, at time better than Luck. Shame.

DeShone Kizer from ND could show this season if he has 1st pick potential.

McCown performed well against the Ravens last season from what I can remember. Would have preferred for us to go up against RG3 to be honest.

49ers shutout.

Not sure if this says a lot about the 49ers defence or the Rams offence.

Good start by the Niners though. Carolina after a short rest week (and Carolina playing last Thursday) followed by the Seahawks will be the true test of the 49ers potential this season.

I'd still snap your hand off for an 8-8 season. There's a decent base at the 49ers but they probably lack a playmaker either side of the ball. Plus their division (with Seahawks and Cards) and overall schedule makes it a difficult task to see beyond 5 or 6 wins this season.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

They were woeful today. Defense had some good moments in the second half but the offense was absolutely turgid.

This was the best thing to come out of today's game:

I am in disbelief at how bad we (the Rams) were this morning,

Our offence has been shite for years but that was a new low,

Not sure what is the biggest on-going positional problem, Liverpool's never ending LB saga which seems to have plagued us almost continually for 20 years or the Rams QB problem.

We've gone all out for Goff but he looks nowhere near ready in pre-season. Is it wrong that after week one, it already appears that we're building for 2017!

Definitely - strong signs of it last year, pity he did his thumb!

Good to see Hunt in there contributing, was worried he'd be a total bust.

And that catch from Green? Amazing. Even Revis couldn't believe it. :D

One thing I don't get with the Rams trading a shit load of picks for Goff is that he has nobody to throw to. Tavon Austin is a glorified return man, how he's getting over 10m a year with 30m guaranteed is baffling, his agent deserves an award.

Some of those plays on 3rd down last night were a farce too. 3rd & 6 yet they throw a 1 yard pass and expect the receiver to get through 6 defensive players.

If you're gonna be 8-8 you might as well be 1-15

I don't quite agree with this.

1-15 will get you the number 1 draft pick but I'm not sure that necessarily turns a 1-15 team to play off contenders. Not in the NFC West anyway.

An 8-8 says you are a team that is almost a play off team. 2-3 extra wins and you are a wild card. To get 8-8 in the NFC West with 4 games against the Seahawks and the Cardinals you'd need to be a decent team.

The 49ers are a long way from being an 8-8 team at the moment though. If they happen to go 8-8, then they'll have reasonable draft picks to address any potential weaknesses (e.g. WR). They also got a shit load of cap space. That could get even bigger if Kap, Brooks and Bethea are cut. If you are an 8-8 team, rather than 1-15, you've probably got more chance of convincing free agents they have a chance of winning if they join you.

Plus you are unlikely to have the churn of another coach, and another playbook, if you go 8-8. Not many coaches will survive a 1-15 record and take a team into a 2nd season.

I get that logic, but this is a QB league. I know Denver won essentially without one but it's a lot easier to be good with a good QB than with a good defense. I think if you don't have a franchise QB (and Gabbert isn't it, for me) you need to get one. If you get one, then yeah for sure learning to win is important. Lots of bad teams (like Indy) with a great QB who need to win and keep winning rather than get that early pick.

Just finished watching my 49ers. Not bad at all but cannot help but feel that the Rams were so bad. The key will be to keep the likes of Hyde fit and I was very impressed with the QB much better then last year. Not getting carried away because are start is horrible next few weeks. We are very much a work in progress but it was nice to see the 49ers being back to a team based on a strong D. Can we play monday night every week please NFL

Really the Pats have had a couple of months to prepare Garoppolo for that Cards game. And the game plan was very simple - in Bob Paisley terms it was 'find the dope'.  They relentlessly targetted the rookie corner and steered clear of Peterson/Mathieu.  It's the games ahead - well, the Jets game in particular, with that scary-looking pass rush - with just a week to prepare that'll really test him.

I didn't pay all that much attention to everything happening in the Cardinals game, I spent most of it thinking how disappointing they looked, did Cyrus Jones play at all? I enjoyed watching him in college football and was hoping he'd somehow fall to the Ravens with one of our 4 4th round picks until NE took him in the 2nd ;D.
