Most of the ego-related stuff is a distraction and just a way to justify the move. His place in our list of legends is not in question, but now he's at a rival so we can pretty much forget about him for the next few years.

Will only wish you good luck individually but you'll always welcome back Sadio :wave

Sadio Mane’s PR Manager Bacary Cissé on a reported 100k salary at LFC:

"Those are false rumours. We didn't want to talk about that. A player of Sadio's calibre can't be earning the salary that people are speaking about. The numbers circulating are completely wrong." [@TV5MONDE]

Cissé:

"Sadio was already earning more than that when he joined Liverpool from Southampton. He extended his contract in 2018 and his salary was much higher than the numbers circulating in the media.”

Good....but weird that they are even talking about it still?

Maybe Sadio himself wanted these rumors put to rest out of respect to LFC?

It was absurd to even think he was ‘only’ on £100k.  I saw a figure of £192k, no idea if that was accurate but I bet it’s a lot closer.

Hopefully it shuts a few up.

Once Dalglish stopped playing, that was the last time I was gutted.

Players come and go - the only thing you know is that the best ones won't ever be here long enough.

Wish him well, but he's no longer associated with the club. So, just like countless players before and countless players to come.

So long and thanks for all the Fish.

Sadio will be earning £350,000 per week at Bayern Munich. They can afford to pay their star player that much, because their departing star player Lewandowski is earning that much at the moment. We were never going to pay the 3rd/4th star on our team that much, and there is nothing wrong with that. Good luck to Sadio, he has given us some great memories, but it is Nunez' time now ...

Cos a lot of comments being made that the only reason he’s going to Bayern is because they are paying him so much.  It’s a bad look for their client that this was his sole motivation, so they needed to point out that the story of the rumoured wages at Liverpool that have made the rounds in the last few weeks, was indeed nonsense and that he had been paid a big wage anyway.

It never really works out though does it? If a player just admitted they moved for bigger pay I doubt many would give a shit, but all of the PR to preserve their image just seems to damage it more if anything.

Mane scores a Pen in the 5th minute.

Keeper went the right way, couldn't keep it out due to the pace on the shot.

Congrats on the African player of the year trophy, a clear winner. I enjoyed reading his acceptance speech, but of course the BBC has highlighted his "I left for a new challenge" remark, which is a bit weird when he's moving to an easier league with a team that wins it every year, and even the language/culture won't be a problem given his Salzburg experience. I suppose he will have to do without Jurgen's hugs, though...

Yeah, it looks like the club knew where he stood which would've been helpful with their planning. Like you say, he still played to high standard and gave his all, which is the most important thing. Just don't read the antagonistic headline from the Mirror.

The comments around ‘a new challenge’ did make me laugh, he’s gone to a league where his team are pretty much guaranteed to win the league, in addition to the domestic cup should they prioritise it!

We’ll always adore him though, hope he smashes it for them.

for sure!Sometimes it’s just best to shut up, or be honest. It’s absolutely ok that he wanted out of England and to go play for a team where he knows he can extend his career similarly to how Robben did, cos of less games, and less physical league (oh and a nice wage packet). But saying it’s a challenge was genuinely hilarious.

But you are a bit wide of the mark with your comment about the domestic cup by the way - they don’t win the cup as often as you think - and they ALWAYS go with strong teams, all German teams do, there is very little resting of players.

I've got no problem with that. After six years pitted against a monstrous abomination of a so-called football club where we twice finished on 90 plus points but without a title, I don't fucking blame him for going to a league where he can actually win one without having to bust himself into pieces.
