Travel to Leicester tonight.
« on: January 30, 2019, 08:47:29 am »
Just thought it might be helpful to put something up here for everyone going tonight. I'm coming down from Carlisle and looking at AA website it looks like a disaster zone down there. Hopefully clearing up during day. But updates from any travelling or locals down there would be helpful. Cheers

Work in Warrington and colleagues that live in Liverpool have all made it in today.

Roads were bad leading to some slow speeds, even on motorways but hopefully clear later.

Just leave a bit of extra time.

It’ll be pavements etc that does for the game if anything

Would expect an update either way mid morning from the club

Cheers that's encouraging. Not worried about game being postponed, just getting there. The. AA map just looks like a nightmare.

Excellent - sounds promising

Don’t think  any significant snow expected before tonight now so should be good to go

There’ll be a lot of empty seats mind as some areas have had loads.

I’ll be fine if I can do the first 500 yards off the estate!

They were not running this morning but expected to be running at 11am at the latest.

M6 has some problems around J26 to 28 atm but should be clear by later on hopefully.

M6
Lane (or Lanes) closed, long delays, shed Load, travel time is….
Two lanes closed and long delays due to shed load on M6 Southbound from J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland) to J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish). Lanes one and two (of three) are closed. A sweeper and gritter is on scene while a large spillage spilt from the lorries load is cleared. Travel time is around 40 minute.

I ended up going via the M61 and M62 instead of sitting in the M6 traffic, which they said had tailbacks of more than an hour when I got near it. Going back was fine luckily except for the idiots who don't know how to drive in thick fog.

We came off at Leyland, followed the phone directions and got back on at jct 27. Traffic wasn't moving fast but only took about 35 minutes, an we got to the game with plenty of time to spare

Coming back was fine

M6 there was a stinker. Diesel spill so down to one lane

M6 was shut southbound to resurface where the tailbacks were earlier

Was mulling over that route but lorry driving mate said go off at bamber bridge and skirt round the arse end of Preston. Eventually joined a59. Worked, but took a long time. 1 3/4 hours in total. I still think better than sticking on m6 though. Just got there in time for kick.  Back was shocking freezing fog. Hit minus 8 at shap and actually froze  the antifreeze in my screen wash. If the players put half as much effort in last night as we did..
