That is a very young starting line up for LFC.  4 x U16s, 6 x first year U18s, and mrozek in goal.  I should think this is going to be more about development than result.  Of course all academy matches are about development but this team is up against it.  But good to see Trent K-d on the bench again

Not many shots from us but a few good performances and the kids played with good energy.  Shame about the late Everton goal but wasn’t even expecting a draw.  Impressed with the U16s Morrison, Fola, Pitt and Ahmed.  Not that Ahmed saw much of the ball but he ran and ran.

Has the young Egyptian lad played much recently? I forget his name and thin he might only have been 15 but he scored at Bournemouth in the youth cup before Christmas.

Gordon was back doing light training outside during the break, just running I think it was, so nothing physical. Imagine they’ll be taking their time with him.

Sure I read Mabaya had a setback.

Unfortunately Gordon is probably cooked as far as a Liverpool player goes. You just don’t see players have this long out of the game at such a crucial stage of their career and still become a beast.

Didn’t Steven Gerrard miss quite a long time at his age???

With Gordon, he’s not had a specific injury, just issues related to growing pains

Edit: yes he did! https://theathletic.com/4097511/2023/01/17/kaide-gordon-liverpool-injury/?amp=1

Hopefully he'll get over the growing pains but that's a huge chunk of development missed.  Gerrard had similar issues but was never out for an entire season, just sporadic spells on the sidelines.

Cautiously optimistic.

The other issue is Doak has probably jumped him as the young attacker to get minutes whilst he's been out. Unless we end up in the Europa League or conference league it's unlikely both get many chances with the first team. Youth development is a lot about luck and timing when it's gets to the stage Doak and Gordon are at.

They are both really young.  As long as they are training with the first team, getting cup games, and bench appearances, they will be fine.  They may not make it at LFC long term but both will have careers in football.

Amazing aint it, you would think the evil bastards at the club would spare a young kid but nope, they must have deliberately done it to halt his promising career.

Same thing happened to Brewster. It's 12 months of development lost. It then takes 6-12 months just to get fully back up to speed.

Difference is Brewster had surgery. Several of them I believe. Doesn't seem as though Gordon has so he's in a much better position.

Do many follow the U18s away to places as far a field as Ipswich. Just wondering if I’ll be more or less on my own?

Know there'd been some talk about our youth cup performances, but just seen Chelsea got knocked out away to Cambridge.

Also u21s are on LFCTV tonight. So they can show them if it's at the same time as theFa Cup, but still not premier league games it seems

Should be ahead 0-0. Blair looking good on the right and midfield alert Luca Stephenson playing well.
