Liverpool 0-0 Man United: Half-time...
« on: October 3, 2011, 09:35:49 pm »
Mods if it's to early please lock.
But I hate the international break, even more so with these bastards waiting for us.
Can't see there being many changes, fingers crossed we don't get any injuries. Only change I can see is Gerrard coming in for either Adam, Kuyt or Carroll. Depending on how we decide to set up.
Let's just batter them and close the gap to 3 points.

As much as I want Utd to be weakened in some way, I can't bring myself to hope their players pick up injuries. This is just bad football kharma in my opinion.
This is toughest home game of the season, nervous but excited.

I really hope Fergie makes the mistake he's done in the past 2-3 seasons and plays a 4-4-2 against us.

In march, they had Brown-Smalling CB pairing, a very static midfield 2 of Sholes and Carrick, with Berbatov starting.

Even if they persist with 4-4-2, their team will be a lot more dynamic as Welbeck contributes much more than Berbatov defensively, and Anderson/Fletcher/Cleverly are all more mobile than Carrick or Scholes. It'll be a tough game.

I hope we go back to pressing them, and we must be much better in possession, because they are brilliant on the counter with their pace and movement. Just need to follow the same formula we've been using to batter them at Anfield in the past 3 seasons and get on with it.

Enrique needs to play another blinder vs Nani

Their team has many weaknesses and we need to exploit them. I think Suarez's trickery will undo their centrebacks. Their defence has not been examined properly, oh wait Basle gave it a good examination plus Chelsea made a few opportunities against them. Their central midfield is one of their probem areas. I'd like us to play Lucas, Adam and Stevie G to boss the midfield.

Hope GJ is back for this one to give us some added attacking thrust down the right.

This team will frighten the mancs (and smash them):

                     Reina
GJ/kelly  Carra   Agger/Skrtel   Enrique

Kuyt   Gerrard  Lucas  Adam  Downing
                           Suarez

We would still have Bellamy, Carroll and Hendo on the bench to bring on to turn the heat up on the Mancs. Perhaps Carroll should be brought on to test their young keeper who must be worried.

4-1 TO LFC

Goy a feeling Stevie G will score. I'd love it if he gets off the mark for the new season.

Looking at the array of next up 3 games for us and those above and around, this has to be seen as a chance to be kicking around an area of the table that we probably don't deserve. That's bloody nice. MASSIVE if's, doesn't need saying, but this is a chance to find a bit of strength. Got to beat Man Utd tho.

As tempting as it will be, can't see Gerrard starting this one.

Gerrard will start. Neck sticking out there.

If that happens I think we will give them a good game, but there is no point predicting until they get back to Melwood.
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.

One day, people will hopefully look back and say "I was there son. I was there the year that Spurs won nothing again."

May well be, but they have a warm-up game 3 days before the match, which doesn't account for much, since the internationals will keep our lads fit, but still- a chance to play together in a competitive game before the big one..

Just hope Vidic wont be back for this.  Any of Jones/Smalling/Duckface at the back and I think Carroll and Suarez will run them ragged.

I'd love us to batter them by 4-0 (Suarez, Carroll, Gerrard, Downing) but I'll settle for a scrappy, jammy 1-0 win to us.

Before and sometimes after. Sometimes we'd go into internationals after just picking up form and then we return and we were absolutely abysmal and so disjointed, we couldn't even string 3 passes together and we were unable to get it right until we hit depths. It would continue into the 2nd break or pick up again before we go into it and blam!..

We suck again.

I can remember, we sometimes looked totally knackered coming off internationals where we went into them on a high or just started to hit the high watermark. I always maintained- contrary to popular opinion- that we had hell under Pako's regime. He really drove the players into the ground with those merciless sessions. So much so, that once Pako left, we had our best start in a while and our best season since 2001.

May have to start Suarez from the bench in this as he'll be fucked from the travelling IMO.

would go with this to start:

Reina

Kelly.          Carragher.          Agger.         Enrique

Lucas.           Gerrard

Kuyt.             Bellamy.             Downing

Carroll
