EFL Cup - MK Dons away - Wed 25/9
« on: August 29, 2019, 01:50:32 am »
Bit of a pain mid week but a new ground.

Just looked it up - sounds decent as plastic bowls go.
https://www.footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-one/stadium-mk-milton-keynes-dons.html#awhat-is-it-like-for-visiting-supporters

Capacity 30,500 so what do we get, 10%?
Prices £27/22 - happy with that if they keep it the same
Can't remember who we played in terms of credits they'll ask for though :D

Just hoping we play on Wed 25th Sept but not sure if Chelsea away can still be moved?? Or maybe I'm thinking of Utd & Spurs.

We are a team of one half.

Any chance this goes to all members? I went to Last seasons game at home to Chelsea but no idea whether that will be part of any criteria.

Hard to say, probably not, STHs will get a chance before us members and can see it selling out before it reaches members if get pasts those with credits, Chelsea won’t help you unfortunately

I’m sure they usually give about 7000 in the cups, if that’s the case I can see it going down to STH

Last two aways in this comp were Leicester and Southampton so probably start needing both of those credits but should drop after that if allocation is big to all ST. Be surprised if it went to all members though.

United got 6200 and Leeds got 6500 in the league cup previously there.

Hoping with it being midweek and in between Champions league and Chelsea away there will be a few spares as well. None of my lot have any league cup credits somehow since United away I think

I do all the aways so it will make a nice change for me to have one that is only 15 mins away from where I live, it also means that I can cancel my half a days holiday! The ground itself is better than some premier league grounds although the location of it couldn't be any worse, literally nothing of note unless Asda, Ikea, KFC etc. are your thing.

I'll know what Coventry, United and Chelsea got but I'll be very surprised if we get any more than 5K for this as the demand from home supporters will be huge as it could be the only time that they ever play the current Champions of Europe.

Fuck sake, I read the OP post and glazed over the fact it's not been set - and booked for the Wednesday.

Guess I might just have a random evening out in Milton Keynes then...  :butt

You can get that price on an off peak day return with a railcard. So you didn't need to book it hasty, could still get that price on the day. You will probably be ok though as can;t see it being anything other than weds.

These are usually mad generous with tickets aren't they? Seen some league games there with around 10k away fans and obviously the previous league cup aways have been mentioned already. 3k coming then  ;D

Hoping for a massive allocation so I might be able to get one on my card, or at the very least get a few of us at the game itself through spares.

Will this be the first league cup away that could potentially go to all seasies since the mainstand? That might gobble up most of them before it reaches all members.

Very confident I’ll be in the ground at least which is my immediate concern

Theres a direct, cheap, train from Lime St via Rugby but makes about 20 stops.

I use it often for work and only normally costs about a tenner. West Midlands Trains

Would love for this to go to all members but can't see it. One of a few grounds I haven't been to. Failing that looks like I have to hunt down a couple of spares.

Probably won’t happen, but if this was a big enough allocation to drop below those with away credits (which seems likely) would love the club to put members with 19 in with STH like they did with the initial Community Shield sale.

Having done that for that sale, be interesting to see if that was a one off or an actual change in policy for the rare time an away drops beyond those with away credits!

If the allocation is 5.5k it’ll reach members a la Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn league allocations. Not many but some will given its a Wednesday  night 3 hours away

If they did do something like that then given tournament loyalty wouldn't it actually make more sense to go on LC home attendance or membership of LC Autocup instead of League Games?

It absolutely would - but given that will most likely happen is it drops straight to STH then league games becomes the criteria the club are selling on.

Which to me isn’t right, given the fact that every other comp is sold based on previous attendance within the same Cup!

IMO after those with previous away credits are sorted, should be dropping to all (be it STH or members) with ‘x’ amount of LC home games going back a few seasons (perhaps going back far enough to get 5 games for example)

sorry to be so negative, but this gets thrown about in loads of threads, we should have a thread to discuss the loyalty system and how it could work best, so often we see it debated (charity shield, super cup, champs league final, bulk sales) lets put it in one place rather than going on about it all over the place.

Yeah that’s fair enough mate - I’ll leave it there, definitely a danger of going round in circles with this type of discussion!

Will certainly await the selling criteria with interest on this one - the club doesn’t often have this scenario to deal with!
