With next year's final being at the Atatürk stadium, I suppose we have no choice but to win it again!
One day, people will hopefully look back and say "I was there son. I was there the year that Spurs won nothing again."

We must have the most succesful win rate in this competition, seriously..

We've been in the competition 21 times
We've been in the final 9 times
We've won it 6 times
43% of the time we reach the final
28.5% we win the bloody thing

Makes you think about how many times we've come close as well. Missing out on the final in 65, losing in 2007 when we could have won the final, missing out on another final here and there. Incredible record.

6-3 record in finals, the 6th one was the first time we won it whilst being the ''away'' side [lost to Milan,Juve and Real in previous occasions when that was the case]

In the last 15 years we've played the same amount of CL finals as Barca and Real, and only they've won more us.

Considering the period of uncertainty we had as a club during this time and considering how many times we didn't play in CL during this period, it's a fantastic achievement.

Lol I'm just laughing at the other fans  particularly  the outspoken United fans who are soo obsessed with Liverpool FC winning.
It's just beautiful  that we shut everyone's gob by doing the talking on the pitch.

edit Sang both verses of "lets talk about six" to a variety of non-lfc fans in my section at the Toronto fc last night, wearing a Carlsberg with a collar and carrying (gasp) a half and half from the preseason friendly we played some years ago. "Who the fuck buys a half and half" i kept yelling "but this one has Liverpool on it".

Toronto's great for that, everyones from somewhere else and they've all got another team the banter is endless but its all friendly. The Chelsea and Manc and Manc City guys all about of me were clearly informed what time it was, just in case they didnt know  ;D

There's one thing I can't get out of my head. The media likes to speak of a so-called "big six" in English football yet we alone have more European cups than the other five combined.

Doing so would be like Man City and Everton supporters who are now trying to do mental gymnastics to discredit our 6 cups - because 1) now it's not really a competition for only champions and 2) when it was a comp for champions only the competition was "weak".

You can see in these photos.

This is how the trophy in the cabinet looked. The handles go right to the top.

Here's the trophy at Istanbul. Look near Rafa's hand

The trophy in the photo is near, but the one in Rafa's hand is far away.

 ;)

On a serious note, they have definitely changed the ears - I don't like the new version.

Ok, I'm confused.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Champion_Clubs%27_Cup

"Since 2009, Champions League winners have not kept the real trophy, which remains in UEFA's keeping at all times. A full-size replica trophy, the Champions League winners trophy, is awarded to the winning club with their name engraved on it.[6] Winning clubs are also permitted to make replicas of their own; however, they must be clearly marked as such and can be a maximum of eighty percent the size of the actual trophy.[7]"

So is the trophy currently in the Kop Bar, the full-size replica (Champions League winners trophy), with our name on it?  Do we therefore get to keep the full-size (replica) trophy?

I remember the first time I actually saw it close up.  It was displayed at the Liverpool Show in 1977 and I stood right next to it, although it was inside a glass cabinet.  I thought then, and still think now, it was the greatest object I'd ever seen.  I remember feeling emotional at being so close to it.  Emotional and unbelievably excited.  It does that to its believers!

Sure, but by all accounts they had a fantastic team at the time. They've earned their titles.

Rightly so. It's the greatest trophy any footballer on the planet can win.

This one is about being good enough to play for a great side and not so much about where you are born (like for example the World Cup).

That's right, we keep the full-size replica this time.  That one Jordan lifted was the real one but he had to return it when we left the pitch and from that point on we just have this replica. It just has Liverpool 2018/19 engraved onto it whereas the real one that stays with UEFA has the other winners names on it.

The one we kept after Istanbul was the real one. It has every winner from Milan 94 to Liverpool 05's names on it.

Before 2008/09 when the rules changed, teams used to keep the real one for 10 months and then keep a slightly smaller replica after that.
