I think I may have started all this, when Oasis played Maine Rd back in April 1996, My mate took the knock and we found ourselves in the home dressing room which was being used for first aid . Anyway, as he was recovering and we were left alone, I took a look at the tactics whiteboard they had in there, then took the marker and wrote Going Down in great big letters across it before flipping it over so no one would see until it was time to use it, anyway, I often dream about the look on their grids a few days later when the team were sat there and the board was righted ahead of their final game of the season. Needless to say, I was proved correct and Oasis were to blame.

No doubt these tedious, whinging, self-pitying wetwipes will be air lifted in by Chinook tomorrow to protect their delicate egos.

Amazing isn't it. The club is owned by tyranical torturers, but everyone attached to them seem to be such incredibly delicate little flowers revelling in victim status.

From that twitter thread

“It goes back much further than this. Roy Evans used to offer to take the oppo team sheets to the ref in the early 70's. He'd scribble 'End' after Colin Bell's name whenever City came to Anfield. How Clive Thomas laughed, and rewarded us with pennos“

 ;D

What never came out at the time was that Guardiola first visited this place to start redesigning it to his tastes during the international break of March 2016, under the codename of “The German”, when he was still in charge of Bayern Munich and Manuel Pellegrini, the then Manchester City manager, was conveniently absent.

OK, serious question.

If Manchester City met PSG in the Champions League now, would they be all “Hello to our French brothers and sisters, fellow disruptors of the status quo and enemies of the cartel!”

Or would they be all “Hello, perfectly normal football team like us, whose sudden and perfectly normal gigantic wealth is completely irrelevant to the fact they can suddenly afford players like Neymar"?

Mate says it's common knowledge the route they're taking. That'll well slip out.

I know loads up for another 'greeting' its gonna be just as, if not more of a welcome, than it was a few years back.

The fucking peasants haven't got a clue what passion and noise is all about.

The police rerouted the infamous coach through the Liverpool coach welcome.
Normally they would have come in via the Arkles route as do all visiting teams, but for some reason they re-routed it at the last minute to come up through the crowds instead of the relatively deserted Arkles Lane.
Whether they were concentrating police numbers around the crowded area and felt they didn’t have enough for two ‘routes’ is one explanation. But in hindsight it was a stupid idea.
A large crowd always contains dickheads, and dickheads will do idiotic things.
As someone has pointed out, they have visited since without any repetition.
This is a distraction story planted in the Manchester media to deflect away from the club.
This is ADFC media machine in operation. It is a well funded operation
I actually saw one of their “fans” claiming on Twitter, that the club is owned by a one private individual.
Let that sink in.
He was adamant that Sheik Mansour was a private citizen who was spending his own money, and all the sponsorship money was legit and not at all state sponsored.
He was seriously arguing that any AD government involvement in Manchester City was a lie and a fake news story.
I would like to think it was a bot, but I fear it was a ‘fan’ who is fighting the PR battle for free.
They have drunk of the the cool aid.

Total bullshit, he's probably got that from Wiki, as there is a claim on there that Abu Dhabi Investment Council is privately owned by Sheik Mansour.

This is the reality from its own website

HISTORY
The Abu Dhabi Investment Council is an investment arm of the Government of Abu Dhabi. The Council started its operations in April 2007 and is responsible for investing part of the government’s surplus financial resources through a globally diversified investment strategy, targeting positive capital returns through an expansive portfolio of highly diversified asset classes and active investment management strategies.

In the short time since its inception, the Council has established a reputation for its entrepreneurial spirit, open culture and quick decision making process.

In 2019 Abu Dhabi Investment Council became a part of Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company, also owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.

https://www.adcouncil.ae/?page_id=24

Then, this is from the Mubadala website and is the profile of Sheik Mansour

Board of Directors, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and Vice Chairman of Mubadala Investment Company
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and Vice Chairman of Mubadala Investment Company.

H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

His Highness is also the Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services, the Emirates Investment Authority and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. He sits on the Supreme Petroleum Council and on the boards of numerous investment institutions.

If ever there was a portrayal of a victim mentality and culture - its the Man City fan base.

Media against them, refs against them, UEFA against them, VAR against them, the police against them, SKY/BBC/BT against them, the press against them, FFP against them, everyone and everything - against them.

They need to re-amend their faux stance and smell the coffee, on who really is always playing the victim.

They love defending Abu Dhabi though

As the Australian Simon Pearce, a director of Manchester City and Abu Dhabi's head of strategic communications, put it in a leaked email written in 2013 regarding the club's move to New York: "AD/UAE vulnerabilities put in play: gay, wealth, women, Israel."

The success, then, of Manchester City has also brought some fresh attention to long-standing criticisms of the UAE. "This is one of the most abusive and dangerous governments out there," says McGeehan. "They are particularly sinister and dangerous."

Serious mistreatment of the migrant workers that make up 90% of the population, vast inequalities in wealth, environmental degradation, oppressive policies aimed at women and gay people, torturing prisoners and embarking on a war that has killed thousands of innocent people in Yemen: all these allegations against the UAE have been brought, however hazily, to the attention of some of the hundreds of millions of people that watch the English Premier League around the world.

This is particularly true for fans of City's rivals looking for a stick to beat their conqueror with, and particularly true in an ever more polarised football landscape, in which fan sites and podcasts have risen to prominence and supporters across the world vent at each other on Twitter.

In return, fans of the Manchester club have become what McGeehan calls an "unpaid PR army" for Abu Dhabi, defending the UAE on social media and pointing out that when it comes to supposedly dodgy owners of Premier League football clubs, City are very much not alone.

"Dig deep enough and you'll find murky business in every club's financial dealings – where there's money, there's a lot of questionable characters and practices," says David Mooney, a life-long City fan and host of the Blue Moon podcast.

Fellow fan Howard Hockin, who runs the 93:20 podcast, makes a similar point. "The UK government is just as bad as the UAE government. There is a lot of Western arrogance surrounding this," he says.

In Manchester, the men of oil-rich Abu Dhabi get a lot more love than that UK government. From time to time, City fans in the Etihad break out a chant that pays homage to their owner. To the tune of spiritual classic Kum Ba Ya, they sing "Sheikh Mansour m'lord, Sheikh Mansour, oh lord, Sheikh Mansour".

Mansour has attended one Manchester City game during more than a decade of ownership.

A Gulf state whose territory was once controlled by the British, the UAE is now calling the shots, its rulers thanked and honoured by men and women at a football ground in the north of England.

But as it aims to make domestic football history, Manchester City face another kind of off-field headache, as Europe's footballing body, UEFA ,threatens to ban it from the Champions League for violating financial fair play regulations by funnelling Sheikh Mansour's money through inflated sponsorship deals. The giant of east Manchester is being forced to swat away assorted slings and arrows.

That article above is kind of chilling; insofar as Abu Dhabi has quite easily assembled an army of brainwashed buffoons. It doesn't seem like they are denying the evil of their owners; it is more a case of "Well yeah, they like a bit of torture and oppression of rights, but other clubs also have dodgy owners. Now, let's make some noise for Fabian Delph."

Isn't hugely surprising, they aren't investing in MCFC because they just really like the city, or football in general - it's an expensive PR exercise to try and legitimize their extremely violent state which has a number of highly dubious practices which otherwise should be earning them worldwide ostracism if they didn't have so much oil and kept buying off the west with military contracts.  Instead we've got a 'three cheers for our benevolent owner!'.  Hope you lot smash them today.

These are proper fans who remember the barren years at Maine Road. They've endured all sorts, from Division Two football to having to watch Jo lead the attack. So of course they're going to get shitfaced on pints of water and pretzels, whilst shouting hooray.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of their fans have a similar attitude, if they can rationalise their ownership as being just one then they can convince themselves that the scale of wealth is on a similar level and thus anyone complaining are just jealous that their owner isn't as rich. If they actually admitted to themselves that they are simply a pr tool of an oppressive regime seeking to alter global perception of that regime then anyone with an ounce of conscience would probably have to stop following their club, so denial is their only viable response.

I think we should bombard their bus with cotton wool balls.

Actually bog rolls are more appropriate - but not as funny.

I think we should bombard their bus with oil

Such poor rationale, I highly doubt John Henry is dipping into his personal wealth buying our players, for a self made millionaire in the US, that would be an absolutely insane thing to do.

Rationalisations are rarely good though, they just need to have the barest sliver for them to latch onto to allow them to remain in denial, see the mental gymnastics that the bitters go through to explain why they continue to fail every season.
