Shouldn't Lust be spelt with an 'R'?   ;)

Never been a petrol head myself. I just consider them tin boxes, that go from A to B.   ::)

I like taking them apart and putting them back together for fun (not so free these days), and if you have a reasonable idea of what you're doing, you could just get a 2nd hand car for its chassis, frame and some parts and build yourself (as long as you have the right contacts) a solid machine on the cheap that will give you years. The mechanics of it is interesting, for me.

There are plenty of men who treat a car better than their wife though! Exceptional obsession to the aesthetics, to the factsheets, get hurt over every scratch and dent haha. I find that a bit weird too. You get that attached to anything, it can't be healthy when they get damaged, as daily usage cars usually do.

I would take a 3.1 V6 Essex engine Ford Capri over most of these...

Great shout.

I have an unusual love of the XJ40 and the XJS. I've had 6 XJ40s, all 4.0 or 3.2, but want to get my hands on a 6.0 V12 XJ40 or a Manual XJS, not a loads of money but never get round to it.

Fair enough mate.  They're just not for me.

Personally, I can appreciate good design, and asthetics, but ultimately don't get the swooning over a tin box on wheels.

I get it that some would, fair enough, each to their own and all that, but ultimately for me, they're just a utilitarian instrument of transportation.

I guess I'm just the odd one out in this thread.    :rollseyes

I had a 1955 Oval window Beetle whan I was younger, worst thing I ever done was sell that, would of been worth a fortune now.

Modern cars are for getting from A to B

Classic cars are for getting from A to B in style (unfortunately you'll be cold, uncomfortable, the windows will be steamed up, it will be noisey and you won't actually be 100% sure you'll ever get to B)

Mk1 Granada anyone?

I was always into Fords as a kid, my uncle had a few nice cars when I was growing up, 2 that stand out were the yellow MK1 2.0 Capri and a Mk1 3.0 Ghia Granada. That Granada (for the time) didn't half shift, loved getting taken around in that car.

One of the neighbours had a MK3 2.0 GXL Cortina, its was Orange with a black vinyl roof, that was one lovely looking car, nicer than the Granada.

Amazing how that has turned into THIS, the 2015 Z06. Utterly terrifying in the opposite way -- the brakes are superb to stop you after driving like an idiot going way, way, waaaaay too fast.

I've seen a couple of those driving round... staggering looking things. The regular Corvettes don't do it for me these days, but the Z06 is different level.

Unfortunately it was imported and I lived in SA , so the drivers side was on the wrong side.

Here's an inexpensive little car. The design looks better to me in person than in these pics. Wish it had a bit more power, but I'm told it's a fun handler. It's the current Toyota 86 platform, which is rebranded according to where in the world it's sold. Known also as the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ. Does anyone here own one?

Seriously considering this as our next 'owned' car, I get a car with work but the Mrs really likes the BRZ.
Been all over the world but Anfield is still my home.

I loved the styling on this car, the Chrysler Crossfire of 2004-2008. Mercedes owned the company at the time, and the car shared 80% of its platform with the Mercedes SLK320.

Longest full production convertible ever made, the 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III. It was 229 inches long (5817 mm)! By comparison, a current Mini is 162 inches (4115 mm), over FIVE FEET SHORTER!  :o
