Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions but that feels like a strong indication that he’s going to get a reasonable amount of time in the 18 next season. Not unexpected given his increasing selection on the bench and the impact he’s had.

Lallana had ~800 minutes in all competitions, so I would expect him to get at least that much. I would be impressed if he was able to get 5-10 starts in the Premier League next season.

The No.17 jersey has previously been occupied by Steven Gerrard and Steve McManaman among others during the Premier League era

How could they not include Ragnar Klavan in such a distinguished list?!

Does anyone remember why Arbeloa changed from 2 to 17 despite becoming a first choicer?

Why have you changed your squad number from 2 to 17?

Because 17 has always been my number. It was the number I wore when I was captain of Castilla and also when I was at Depor. When I came to Liverpool Craig Bellamy wore that shirt so I couldn't have it, so when he left I asked if I could switch numbers and thankfully it was possible.

Hopefully a sign of more first team involvement next year. As to whether he can reach the dizzying heights of Ragnar Klavan, that's a different story.

Good signs that he is now a proper part of the squad that he gets to select a highish number. Hopefully he will get the no 8 shirt after Naby's retirement!

Not on long & he was nearly on the end for another goal but smartly let it go.

He is such a great eye for goal in the youth teams looks the same for the 1st team as well.

He did well in the build up too to square it for Mane. Only a simple pass but good decision making when he could have just hacked it upfield to chase after. Nice cool head under pressure like most of our midfield.

For such a young lad he seems to have maturity beyond his age. Very composed and doesnt just hoof it away, looks for the pass and then finds the pass. The calm ball he played to Mane breaking from Chelsea's free kick for is to go on and get the 5th was fantastic. Other players in that situation would have just tonked it upfield.

Number change, all over the club's social media. These alone tell you the club have high hopes for him.

If he gets anywhere remotely near his ceiling, as it appears atm, he'll have one hell of a career. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.

It's looking promising but don't forget 12 months ago Rhian Brewster was all over the club's social media, and now we're not sure if he's better off staying with the squad or going on another loan. These things are just never as straightforward as all that.

Oh absolutely, but with Lallana going and the opportunities Curtis has already been given so far, I think his path is a lot clearer than Brewster's.

Personally, I'd say a young forward needs to be playing and scoring. Jones on the other hand has the opportunity to be linking up with Mane, Salah and Firmino and creating opportunities for them. Definitely easier for the midfielder than the attacker in our system at the moment.
