its sad to look at the team sheet and not be confident of scoring goals.. gone are the days when we had suarez torres owen fowler rush etc who you knew had goals in them... i hope to god we get a 20 goal+ a season striker asap. come on redmen!!! get the three points

We score a shit ton of goals under Klopp, more than pretty much everyone else. So i'm not sure why you're sad.

Although not this lineup. This lineup can't create for shit. But we score plenty with Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino and Mane.

Indeed, if only we had been top scorers pretty much all season.....

Also, can you lot please stop 'hoping' that Sturridge will start any remaining games on merit ? Origi is the 1st choice for Klopp. It has been made abundantly clear.

We had Fowler and Owen in 2001 and only scored 71 goals all season, we've 70 now with 3 games left.

In fact in only one season under Rafa did we score more than 70 goals at all!

I don't know why there's an Arsenal w*nk fest on Sky Sports 1. Our game is on first. Studge is done if he can't get in the team ahead of Origi, but we knew that already. COME ON RED MEN!

People going on about Lallana not starting. Before the Watford game he'd hardly had any training, yet was forced to come on and play for 70 minutes. Presumably its just about making sure he makes it through the remaining games now. We can't afford any more injuries, I suspect he will come on early in the second half and get a decent run out. We should be able to get a result with that line up.

Looks like the plan is for Origi to soften them up a bit then bring on Lallana and/or Sturridge to deliver the killer blows

Yep, and if someone fancies scoring another wonder goal like Cout or Can have recently that'd be nice too!

It would, but we can't rely on that, especially when we are not really putting teams away. We have had strong moments around the 50-65min mark and have not won games in this period. A stronger XI would've helped in this respect. I can only assume that Coutinho is touch and go and Klopp didn't want 2 (or 3) top players who may not last the game.

Still enough quality out there to beat them, but we have to prove it.

How many did we concede in comparison, just out of interest?

What are you on about? Up to when we lost Mane we were the league's top goal scorers! We've scored plenty of goals this season.

I'm pretty sure that since Klopp has been at the club, we've had one of the best goal scoring records from any manager. Can't get my head around why people think we're not scoring enough goals. It's true we've been struggling of late, but that's because before we only had two really creative players in the line up. Losing Lallana was a real blow for us.

I think so too. We've missed Mane for almost half the season as well really.

It's the defence that has cost us really. Although there's the 'short blanket' analogy Rafa always used to use - we just haven't found the right balance of keeping our feet and our torso warm yet - I have faith in Klopp that we will :)

We've not scored freely recently and Southampton are tight at the back.

Would like to see us play with a little more fluency now and create some better chances..

Law of averages means we should be due for a win today but no game's a given in the League so expecting a hard-fought encounter. Still we're the side with the greater incentive and I expect a performance from us to match. C'mon Redmen let's work hard and get the 3 points and get another little buffer to the chasing pack.

Wish Firmino was a bit more consistent. He has a lot of quality no doubt but there's games he doesn't get involved anywhere near enough; let's hope today is one of the days he does like Stoke away!

I think its clear for all to see he performs best through the middle. Only game he really excelled out wide was Villarreal at home.

It's because we've shared the goals out I think - often skews people's perceptions. Problem comes when the likes of Lallana and Mane get injured then there's more pressure on players like Firmino and Origi.

He's very consistent in the defensive aspects of his game. And when he plays as a 9 he's consistent in the offensive aspects. Unfortunately because of the amount of time Coutinho and Mane have missed this season he's been played wide far far too much. He's just not a very good wide player. I don't understand why we continue with it but i guess Klopp's happy with his contributions.

And that's the problem, Origi gets lost between positions at the moment. He just looks a bit short of confidence at the moment and gets bullied.
