it was two on his debut off the bench and another two in his first start a week later. was always going to be tough to keep that form going! scored against all the big teams, loved his trademark skimming strikes into the bottom corner. sexy bastard to boot and all.

IIRC he scored 2 for the Czech Republic sandwiched in between those first two games as well.

I sat there watching the Liverpool fans and they sent shivers down my spine. A mass of 40,000 people became one force behind their team ... Really classy player with a cracking left foot. The goal against Derby is one of the best I've seen.

Anyone else remember when he shaved his head and lost all of his powers?
There are no stars in this team, or no one with any airs or graces. We're one unit, we work hard for each other and we all pull in the same direction.

The work rate in that video is shocking. All this fancy stuff playing the ball to another red shirt  ::)

Thank god we are much more focused on the important stuff these days, like running up and down the pitch waiting for the ball to hit your knee

taught me how to really smack the ball with my left foot, loved the way he could hammer them!

remember being excited when we got him, was disappointed united got poborsky but turned out better for us. remember his pen in euro 96 final, his brace against leicester and the chelsea goals.

shame he got injured so near the end, was a good player and remember him saying his kid is a massive red!

Really liked him as a player though lost all respect for him for coming out in the Autumn with that garbage about how Rafa should be sacked as hes spent all that money and got nowhere etc etc. Was like he had morfed into collymore

Would this interview with 5-Live be the ones you are on about?

Summed up that nineties team for me. All fur and no knickers.

And it has the cheek to diss Rafa
'' I'd like to think that I have put more into the game than I have taken out. And that I haven‘t cheated anybody, that I've been working for people honestly all along the line, for the people of Liverpool who go to Anfield. I'd like to be recognised for trying to give them entertainment.''

Can't remember if it was his debut, but I was at that game and I can be seen celebrating one of his goals on the back cover of the end of season review 1996-7. :-)

The problem with Paddy was that he was all left foot. However despite this he used to love coming inside from the left. Never gave us much width. Think his best position similar to most people was playing off a forward however we rarely played like that under Houllier and Evans. Good luck for the future anyways.

Paddy was a real hero of mine, lethal left foot, could find that bottom corner with such accuracy he had it down to an art form.
Great attitude too and knew what it meant to play for us, i doubt you'll find many with a bad word to say about him.

All the best Paddy mate! How we could use someone like you now.
