But we didnt - so people are pissed off - not hard to understand is it?  ::)

Not my point at all, my point is that many of them only appear when we've lost/drawn.

Feels a bit like under Rodgers where all we had to do was beat Basel at Anfield in the last game to go through.

Please, I don't wanna remember that...

My worry now is the game against Chelsea. That result feels like a loss, jurgen said so too so really hoping we can bounce back. Also we looked fucked physically and that's a big problem.

Not really trying to blame them. Just stating the reality, if we're going to be really competing, more money needs to be spent for the elite talent. Right now the team is good, but more like a 2nd-4th place in the League, R16 to Quarterfinals champions league type of team.

Dont think this is the place to discuss this, but you cant buy a player if the other club dont want to sell.

We're much improved recently. We still have some problems to sort out so this kind of result will happen. People should stop reading the media and listening to the likes of Kevin Kilbane and Gary Neville. We've lost three games this season. Moreno has had one poor performance. Is Salah shit because he didn't score tonight despite having a number if chances? Do we expect to win every, single game?

Certainly not as our players were in the box before theirs.

It includes the D and one of their players was through the D and almost in the 18 yard box, so he was right, but brave!

Really, Moreno is our best defender this year, through all the good and bad. But I can’t help but think that he was probably doing a few favours for his boyhood club. I think if he is emotionally affected, he generally tends to have a poor game, which isn’t a great quality to have.

I was angry at his performance there, but I think the crux of our downfall was that no one was putting pressure on Ever Banega. That job I think would have fallen to Coutinho, I can see why Klopp made the sub in that situation. But I think Can was ineffective too in that role, and collectively we lost our heads. Henderson too was culpable, I think the whole team was behind in tempo in the second half. Hendo I think could have done a better job pulling the team together.

Anyway, we are through, but could have done better.

It's quite something, it really is. It's like some would rather revel in the negatives.

Bollocks. Some of us were brought up on decades of teams that could not just attack but could defend as well. I'd much rather be getting pissed in celebration, rather than using this thread to vent in frustration - I'm sure the same goes for everyone.

The bigger question is why? We didn't exactly press the hell out of them in the first half and they were awful defensively. Why did we looked fucked as soon as the second half got underway? Maybe we just thought we had it won.

If the ref is taking an eternity to decide whether it's a penalty or not, is he being influenced by the crowd? If you've instantly decided it isn't a penalty why the fuck have you then changed your mind? Shocking performance. The refs in these European games never fail to deliver do they.
Because the decision was his linesmans?

I would love to see the possession stats for the first 15 minutes of that second half. I would be surprised if we had more than 15%. We never put a pass together in this period. Would you believe Moreno again at the start of the second half against Sevilla. You could see Sevilla still thought they could win the game when they come out for the second half. We were lucky to get a point in the end because we were gone in that second half. VVD cant get here quick enough. We need more composure and leadership in the side.

Yes I thought many people at half-time would think I was bonkers but all Sevilla needed was one goal. We were sloppy in midfield and Klopp did nothing to help that in the 2nd half.

We needed a 4th goal and when it didn't come we just invited more and more pressure. A team cannot play like that away from home and "hope" to win.

The subs Klopp made worked though we still conceded. We took back some control of the game having Can in there instead of Phil. We just fucked up at the end IMO.

You were right!

We were superb going forward in the first half, but vulnerable to being split through the middle. As usual there was little protection for the centre backs. Henderson - as usual - was a menace to his own side when he had the ball under pressure and Sevilla were very clever in their movement in and around our box.

It’s not the end of the world, as you say, and we ought to qualify. But until we get a defensive midfielder who can shield the centre backs, knows how and when to press, and is able to use the ball intelligently when under pressure himself, we will continue to fall short against teams as clever as Sevilla.

The way they moved off the ball offering Banega diagonal passes into the the centre of the pitch was something we simply couldn't cope with. First half we knocked them out of their stride and they couldn't cope with our pressing but they turned it around tactically in the 2nd half as they did in the Europa League final.

Muted Sevilla?
I'd hate to see them on song if that was muted, they were all over us for 45 minutes.
We need to defend from the front and we need to control the ball - neither of his substitutions helped with either.

He fucked up big time today for me.

I agree he fucked up but it was fucked up in the dressing room changes should have been made then to shut up shop or at least be in all there faces knowing they were going to be fired up . If you watch it again you'll see after the subs we regained more control and did have a few chances that first 20 minutes of the second were Sevilla on song

We were running around without the ball for the entire second half. Constantly booting it up to firmino unsuccessfully and trying to win it back again. Plus the lads will be on such a down  Now, that can compound the lethargy

Not my point at all, my point is that many of them only appear when we've lost/drawn.

It's human nature to be loss averse, meaning the frustration felt from losing outweighs the elation gained from winning. And after a loss (which this felt like) there is more scope to analyse what went wrong.

I don't mean to take anything away from those goals, but two of them were corners which I'm sure Klopp was as surprised as we were to see go in. They were also surrounded on either side by glorious wasted opportunities by Sevilla.

This is not the PL where we are trying to break down fucking West Brom. There has to be some balance in the side, and personnel who are comfortable in the midfield trenches, winning 50-50's, shutting down opposition ball players, getting us out of trouble with calm play under pressure.

We've heard Klopp going on about balance, and how he can't necessarily have all his artists playing at the same time - yet there was no evidence of that understanding. He put out essentially the same team that faced Southampton.

We have 3-4 players who are essentially useless without the ball in our own half unless there is a clear counterattacking opportunity. The two midfielders who we did have are mediocre at that role. The two who are proficient at it where left on the bench.

I'm sorry but this stinks of poor management to me. Once past our press, any team with a midfield worth their salt in the CL would roll over us completely - and that can't be blamed on the players.

The only real gutter is now we can't give a few a rest, we came out 2nd half and Moreno happened that's all, we actually defended ok save for last corner

Scored 3 away to Sevilla top of group home game v Spartak to go

Worst case we lose to spartak go into Europa which we could feasibly win not to decry our chances of CL of course

Well, I think it's finally time to take the Henderson thing out of my sig. I do think he's turned out better than many expected, but he has never shown anything close to the leadership necessary for a captain. We need some bottle in the midfield and someone to take charge in defence. Keita and Van Dijk, please.

Unfortunately Henderson was a liability this evening. Just not good enough.
