Always seemed a good lad, such a shame that he suffered those horrible injuries. Ultimately not good enough to get the minutes he needs to get his career back on track here, so a move away makes sense.

Best of luck to him.

It has to be said though, if you compiled a list of footballers that deserve nice things you wouldn't be able to put many ahead of Ings. His off field work at Burnley was fantastic.

Great deal for us and great deal for the Saints, not often you get that these days. Things could've been so different for him here without the injuries, hopefully he can fulfil his promise down on the south coast. Wish him all the best.

What's with the initial loan then selling him?  Missed the deadline for a transfer this time around?  Hopefully he goes on to good things, seemed like a good lad.  Wish it'd worked out better for him.

Quality person and definitely a talented player who's had some bad luck during his time here. Needed this move to get back to his best, and if he stays injury free I think he'll do well. Pretty sad to see him leave really!

Guess the dopey bastards don't have the money! Somehow?! They have spent 55 mill this summer so far. Considering how much they got for Virgil too, not sure how that is.

Or it may be that they couldn't get a sale sorted in time cos of the lateness of it.

Basically, it ends up being VVD for 55 + Ings.   Thanks again to our friends in Southampton.

Kloppo loves Danny Ings for sure :)

https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/311250-jurgen-klopp-danny-ings-liverpool

“It is a very strange feeling saying goodbye to Danny. The biggest emotion is how much we will miss him.

“He is such an outstanding boy. Honestly, if you could bottle character and spirit, his would sell worldwide - he is so incredibly positive and full of energy. But we won’t just miss his character because he is a footballer who has all the tools.

“What is clear is that in his time here he had zero luck really, certainly in my time. Before joining I tried to watch as many games on tape as I could from the season so far and Danny Ings stood out as someone I was really looking forward to coaching.

“We all know his story and the bad luck he has had since then.

“It’s why the other emotion is that of being pleased for Danny that he has such a good move and his future is now very bright.

“When he said to us he thinks this is the window it might be best to look elsewhere, for the sake of his career and playing more regular football, it was clear early on that Southampton has great appeal to him personally. It’s his home, his family is there, it’s his boyhood club. They have a great manager and I think the supporters and him will feed off each other’s passion and energy.

“So we say farewell to a friend, but for Danny I know the best chapters in his personal story are still to be written. He is as fit now as at any point of his career I would bet and he just requires the opportunity.

“He has that opportunity and on behalf of his Liverpool family we say good luck Danny and we will miss you.”
