41 years ago today - Spurs 0 - LFC 1 .....goal of the season followed by the battle of The Seven Sisters!....Im sure anyone who was there will still have vivid memories of the aftermath of Terry Mac's magnificent winner....the most on-top game ive ever been to...the concourse at Euston Station looked like Rourke's Drift  8)...worth it though to witness this...

https://twitter.com/i/status/1368906038024544263

Love that goal. The goal and the way the away end reacts to it :)

Wasn’t there but done Spurs away quite a few times and it’s always one to have your 360 degree eyes in.

Just saw on the official LFC site that today, Joe Fagan would have been 100.

He was a boot room founder, some suggest THE boot room founder. After serving as a coach under Shanks, he was no.2 to Bob Paisley and was then manager from ‘83-‘85. He won the treble of League Cup (v Everton), League title, and the European Cup v Roma in 1984 - the final was a poor game, but once again Alan Kennedy scored the winner in the penalty shoot out. The famous Bruce Grobbelaar wobbly knees episode.

He was a born and bred scouser, and a great club servant.

20 years ago today Gary Mc sent that free kick in at the near post at the pit. Was on a family holiday in Italy relying on text updates on my Nokia 32/10. Can still remember the exact moment the update came through:
GOAL: Everton 2-3 Liverpool (McAllister 90+4)
94 Corner to us. Last kick. Ali in the box and he’s scored

1992 wasn’t it. The game that sealed the title for Leeds and extended their title drought to 25 years I think. Anfield in piss taking mood from start to finish thinking they’ll never win it. Ah well, it was fun at the time! And why their demise now should be absolutely savoured for as long as possible.

yes 2-0

Of course typical he never scored against them for ages then did it three games running

I am pretty sure though one reason was this, I might be correct in saying he never scored against Paul McGrath

I’d forgotten about that Suarez shot, hit on the turn as he’s running away from goal. I remember standing up and my jaw hitting the floor in disbelief at that moment.

2023 – Fabinho played his 200th reds game as we beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield with Cody Gakpo bagging his first goal for the club as Jürgen Klopp secured his 250th victory as boss. Mohamed Salah scored before the break, with Gakpo netting early in the second half.

1996 - Sir  Bob Paisley, Passed Away  aged 77. He led us to six League titles, three European Cups, UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, three League Cups and five FA Charity Shields in his nine years in charge. R.I.P. Bob.

1951 - Kevin Keegan was born in Armthorpe, Yorkshire. He arrived for £33,000 from Scunthorpe United in May 1971 and netted exactly a century of goals in 323 reds games, helping to fire us to the European Cup, three League titles, two UEFA Cups and an FA Cup before moving to Hamburger SV for £500,000 in June 1977.

1984 - We reached our fourth consecutive League Cup Final i, winning the second leg of our Semi-final 2-0 at Third Division Walsall thanks to goals from Ian Rush and Ronnie Whelan, to go through 4-2 on aggregate. Unfortunately, seventeen travelling supporters needed hospital treatment when a barrier crumpled in the away end, with the game having to be delayed by a quarter of an hour.

2016 – We thumped relegation-bound Aston Villa 6-0 at Villa Park, with Daniel Sturridge and James Milner on target in the first half. Emre Can, Divock Origi and Nathaniel Clyne all also struck before veteran centre-half headed in his only reds goal.

2018 - Sadio Mané netted three times as we trounced Porto 5-0 in the first leg of our UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg in Portugal. Roberto Firmin and Mohamed Salah also struck, with the Egyptian reaching thirty goals in his debut season.

2006 - Luis García grabbed the only goal of the game in the dying minutes after Jens Lehmann had beaten out Didi Hamann’s long-range effort, to defeat Arsenal at Anfield in our Premiership encounter. Lehmann had saved a spot-kick from Steven Gerrard in the first half, while Jamie Carragher was playing his 400th reds game.

2002 - Gérard Houllier was given a special UEFA award following our remarkable five-trophy haul in 2001.

1987 - Rush scored his sixteenth and final reds hat-trick to help secure a 4-3 League win over Leicester City at Anfield, with Paul Walsh also on the scoresheet. Alan Smith struck two of his nine goals against the reds, with Craig Johnston putting through his own net.

2001 - Michael Owen scored twice at the Stadio Olimpico to give us a 2-0 victory over Roma in the UEFA Cup Fourth Round – cue several songs! His second was our 200th goal since Gérard Houllier took sole control.

2021 – Alisson Becker kept his fiftieth clean sheet in his 114th game for the reds as we beat RasenBallsport Leipzig e.V. 2-0 behind closed doors in the first leg of our UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie in Budapest. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané both struck in the second half.

February 17th

2013 - Philippe Coutinho scored his first reds goal immediately after the break as we thumped Swansea City 5-0 at Anfield, after Steven Gerrard had put us in front from the spot before half-time after Luis Suárez was fouled. José Enrique struck his second and last reds goal with Suárez also scoring before Daniel Sturridge converted another penalty. Unfortunately, Fabio Borini dislocated his shoulder in this game.

February 18th

2001 - We secured a 4-2 FA Cup Fourth Round victory over Manchester City at Anfield to help us on our way to part two of the treble. This game was notable for us converting two penalties with different takers – Jari Litmanen early on, our 200th goal under Gérard Houllier’s sole charge, and Vladimír Šmicer after the break. The other goals came from Emile Heskey and Markus Babbel, with Andrei Kanchelskis bagging the last of his five past us and Shaun Goater also scoring.

2006 - Peter Crouch headed the only goal of the game as we beat Manchester United in an FA Cup tie for the first time in 85 years, in our Fifth Round fixture at Anfield. United substitute Alan Smith broke his leg in a challenge with John Arne Riise. We went on to claim the trophy for the seventh time at the end of the season

February 19th

2008 - Late goals from Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard handed us a 2-0 victory over Internazionale in the first leg of our Champions League Round of sixteen tie at Anfield. Ex-Blue Marco Materazzi was sent off for the visitors, while Gerrard’s goal meant that he had scored in his fifth consecutive game in Europe, a joint club record and a new record in a single season.

2012 – We beat Brighton & Hove Albion 6-1 in an FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Anfield, as we benefited from three own goals for the first time in our history, although one of these is also often credited to Steven Gerrard. Martin Škrtel headed in the opener, with Andy Carroll and Luis Suárez also netting, with the Uruguayan also having a penalty saved.

February 20th

1951 - Phil Neal was born in Irchester, Northamptonshire. He signed from Northampton Town for £66,000 in October 1974 and struck 59 times in 650 reds appearances, becoming our most decorated player of all time, with his medal haul including four European Cups, eight League titles, the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, four League Cups and four FA Charity Shields.

1985 - John Wark scored a hat-trick in our 7-0 trouncing of York City at Anfield in the FA Cup Fifth Round. Ronnie Whelan added a brace, with birthday boy Phil Neal and Paul Walsh also on the scoresheet. We went on to reach the Semi-final that year, where we fell to eventual winners Manchester United.

1991 - One of the most amazing games in our history took place, an FA Cup Fifth Round replay with Everton at Goodison Park, in what was to be Kenny Dalglish’s last match in charge. We led four times, and four times we were pegged back, with the match ending 3-3 after ninety minutes and 4-4 after extra time, before we lost 1-0 at the same venue in the last ever second replay in the competition. Future Blue Peter Beardsley netted a brace, his final reds goals, with Ian Rush and John Barnes also scoring. Graeme Sharp struck the last two of his seven goals past us with Tony Cottee netting two of his eight. Meanwhile, Bruce Grobbelaar was making his 107th consecutive reds appearance, but missed our next game, a 3-1 League defeat at Luton Town.

A lot of memories in there! That York City was in a real throwback. Was a replay after we’d scored a late equaliser at their place I think (although think we drew them two years running).

The City cup game was notable for how classy Litmanen was. Pulled the strings as we carved them apart.

Crouch’s winner against United was brilliant. First time we’d beaten them in the cup for decades.

And then the Inter game. Came a few days after we’d lost at home to Barnsley in the cup. Still vividly remember telling everyone at work we’d win and they all laughed. Idiots. Think they were unbeaten domestically at the time?

February 21st

1970 - We were knocked out of the FA Cup in the Sixth Round, losing 1-0 at Second Division Watford thanks to Barry Endean’s diving header, in revenge for us knocking them out of the League Cup at Vicarage Road earlier that season. This game prompted Bill Shankly into rebuilding his reds side.

1979 - We crushed Norwich City 6-0 in the League despite their five-man defence, with both Alan and Ray Kennedy getting on the scoresheet. Kenny Dalglish and David Johnson added a brace apiece.

1988 - A Ray Houghton header saw off Everton at Goodison Park in a live televised FA Cup Fifth Round meeting as we headed towards Wembley yet again. John Barnes debuted his new shaved head in this game!

1991 - Kenny Dalglish announced his intention to resign as reds boss in a board meeting at Anfield. He had been in charge for nearly six years, leading us to the double in his first season, and a further two League titles, FA Cup, two FA Charity Shields and Screen Sport Super Cup. The pressures of management, and his role in counselling players, supporters and the city of Liverpool in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster led to him stepping down.

2007 - We came from behind to win 2-1 at Barcelona in the first leg of our Champions League Round of 16 meeting. The game was played in the aftermath of a stormy bonding trip to Portugal, with Craig Bellamy allegedly attacking John Arne Riise with a golf club. Perhaps inevitably, it was these two players who struck our goals, with Bellamy celebrating what was to be the final strike of his first reds spell with an imaginary golf swing! Riise’s winner was our 250th goal in the European Cup. Dirk Kuyt hit the crossbar with the home side’s goalscorer Deco also striking the woodwork for the home side
